  General info.

  Before Operation Ivy, Lint (Tim) and Matt were in the Noise, the Uncool, Primitive Cove and Basic Radio; Dave was in Distorted Truth and Rabbi Conspiracy; and Jesse was in S.A.G., which later became Crimpshrine. Later he had sang for Screaming Outlash and played drums in Corpsegrinder and Necropolis. After OpIvy, Jesse went on to put out a 7" with his band Big Rig before disappearing to Nicaragua, where he became a buddhist monk for a period. Tim and Matt started Dance Hall Crashers, but dropped out. Later Tim, Matt, and Dave were in Downfall. Dave joined Schlong with his brother (and OpIvy roadie) Pat. Matt jointed MDC for a while. Later he jointed Gr'ups, and started Rancid with Tim. Gr'ups broked up. By that time, Matt wanted to focus exclusively on Rancid. Rancid put together a side project, Shaken '69. Joining forces with ex-Op Ivy drummer Dave Mello, the Uptones' Paul Jackson and Eric "Dinwitty" Dinn, and featuring Skankin' Pickles' Lars Nylander and Mike Park on horns, Shaken '69 is a pure ska band. The reason for OPIVYs brekup are that EMI had been pressuring them to sign for a 2 album contract. They only wanted to be a local band, they didn't want to be on a major lable. They reportedly broke up so they wouldn't die from sucsess. Then a year or so later, Jesse became a missionary in Nicaragua. He's now back in Berkley working for Lookout! Records.
