A myrrh tincture or a food grade oil applied directly to the evil thing might help as it draws infection out.
If you get a myrrh tincture with goldenseal that also helps draw out infections and you could also use it as a mouthwash.
Clove oil is also good for toothache pain, and calendula (marigold), chamomile, peppermint, and yarrow are anti-inflamatory.
Have you tried oil of cloves? It should be available at a druggist, though you might have to ask for it. It is kind of a temporary numb-er. I'd take advil for the 'deep down' pain, though it will still hurt some. They also have some soft wax that you can use to seal it off from the air if that's hurting it. You have my sympathy, toothache is just about the most awful thing, it is so constant!
Clove oil placed on the tooth area should help alot. If you don't have it, take two tablespoons of cloves ( bruise gently by lightly crushing them) and add them to 1/4 cup of water. Boil for about 20 min. replacing the water as needed to keep 1/4 cup in pan. Cool, then bottle and apply as needed. Garlic (small slightly crushed clove) placed on the tooth tastes awful, but kills the pain and eventually the infection causing the pain. Hope this helps..
