FastBobby's Horseshoe Tips
These tips are based on my own personal
experience on what has helped me the most.
They may or may not work for you. Hopefully
they will help you become a better horseshoe
pitcher whether you are just starting out or
have been pitching for years.
Horseshoe Tips (In no particular order)
- Always stay focused.
- Keep your mind on YOUR pitching, not your opponents.
- Stay Calm, Try not to get mad. (I learned that through experience)
- Keep your eye on a certain spot on the peg. I keep my eyes a few inches above the middle of the peg.
- Practice less on the day before a tournament so you have enough stamina.
- Do not pitch hungry. You will run out of energy and pitch poorly.
- Always be confident in your ability, never doubt yourself.
- Dont try to impress anybody. It doesn't matter if anyone else thinks you are good. As long as you believe in yourself.
- Do not let your opponent know that you are upset. It gives them added confidence and that gives them an advantage.
- Play to win. If you play not to lose, chances are you'll probably lose.
- Knowing when and at what height to release your shoe is very important. I think it is best to begin releasing your shoe as soon as the foot you step with is planted firmly on the ground.
- Set goals for yourself. Such as raising your average. For instance my goal is to raise my average to 70% by the end of 2007. Good luck reaching your goals!
- PRACTICE. Need I say more? I didn't think so.
- One last thing. HAVE FUN and be thankful you are able to compete, I know I am.
