SET-UP
- 1. All boxes are tested at 13.8 volts to insure that they are 100% before they are shipped!
- 2.Wire size is very important to your set-up.
- 3.The FM 1 should be a no. 10 wire or larger.
- 4.The FM 2 & FM 2-1 should be a no.8 or larger.
- 5.The FM 4 & FM 4-1 should be a no.6 or larger.
- 6.The FM 4-2 & FM 6 should be a no.4 or larger.
- 7.The FM 6-2, FM 8 & FM 8-2 Should be a no.2 or larger.
- 8.If you are running more than 12 feet of wire, we recommend that you go to the next larger size wire.
- -
- 9. ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOUR ALTERNATOR IS LARGE ENOUGH!!
- 10. We recommend that you run a extra battery(s) for the FM 4 (if driven) and larger boxes, if you want to see the most out-put.
- -
- 11. Radio or driver set up is very important. Always make sure that the DEAD KEY is set correct.
- 12. WE recommend that you NEVER allow your box to key more than 80% of the combined total of the main transistors.
- 13. Example- the FM 2-1 has 2 main 120 watt transistors. 2x120=240x.80=192 watts max dead key (less is better).
- 14. Example- the FM 4, 4-1 & 4-2 have 4 main 120 watt transistors 4x120=480x.80=384 watts max dead key (less is better).
- 15. MAKE SURE YOUR ANTENNA WILL HANDLE THE WATTS!!
- 16. MAKE SURE YOUR BOX IS WHERE IT CAN GET GOOD VENTILATION!! (NEVER inside of a closed box or compartment!!)
- 17. Most boxes do not come with a fuse. We recommend for you to use a LARGE fuse holder (with the proper size fuse for the size box you have) at the battery, so the wire and box are protected!!
VOLTING
- 1. We recommend that you never hook your box to more than 15vdc.
- 2. If you choose to do so then there are several things you need to remember.
- 3. IF YOU WANT TO PLAY-THEN YOU HAVE TO PAY!
- 4. NEVER VOLT A BOX THAT DOES NOT HAVE 2sc2879,s TRANSISTORS AS THE MAIN TRANSISTORS.
- 5. Your box is set-up at 13.8 volts.
- 6. If you increase the volts, you will increase the chances of burning out your Transistors, Fan, Relay &etc.
- 7. A voltage regulator will have to be installed for the fan or the fan changed.
- 8. When high volting a box, we recommend that when possible to increase the volts and/or dead key slowly to give the transistors time to warm up!
- 9. WATCH YOUR DEAD KEY. 80%
Some Test Results.
- 1. We can tell you this--a FM 2-1 keying 150 watts at 18vdc SHOWED no sign of damage after 2 years of normal usages.
- 2. A FM 4-1 & 4-2 keying 300 watts at 18vdc, SHOWED no damage after 2 years of normal usage!
- 3. A 4-2 keying 800 watts at 20vdc, lasted for 2 hours of heavy usage
- 4. A FM 2-1 volted at 25volts keying 400 watts will last 3 seconds!! GOOD LUCK!!!
