(Author Unknown)
Did you ever fall in love, but knew he didn't care...did you ever feel like crying, but knew you'd get nowhere...did you ever look into his eyes, and say a little prayer...did you ever look into his heart, and wish that you were there...did you ever see him dancing when the lights were turned down low...did you ever whisper, "God, I love you, but I'll never let you know." Don't fall in love, my friend, it doesn't pass the time...it only causes broken hearts, it happens all the time...love is grand, yet it hurts, the price you pay is high...so don't fall in love, it will be over before it's though...you see, my friend, I ought to know...I fell in love with you.

Destiny
J. M. Looper

It wasn't supposed to happen
But it's not supposed to end
Destiny took a place in my life
And gave me a new best friend

I've been touched with happiness
Darkness overcome with light
Complicated my emotions
While giving sweet dreams to all my nights

I pray on my knees to Heaven
To give me a moment with him
Yet I'm still alone and yearning
The candle of hope burns dim

I wish I could have it forever
If only there was a way
I'm so terrified of letting go
Before saying all I need to say

But for now I should just hold on
To the fate that has changed my world
Thank God for destiny interfering
In the life of this disconsolate girl

I Want to Love
By Rachel A. Gold

I want to love and be loved again,
I want to laugh and to cry,
To feel the uncertainty loving bestows,
And the hope that a glance can espy.
I want to live over my dreams that are gone,
By crude hands all cruelly shattered;
The one who has given has taken away
As if they were nothing that mattered
Perhaps I shall love and be loved again
By another far fairer than he,
But I shall be careful, for dreams that are gone
Are slow in returning to me.

By J M Looper

The many times you made me laugh
The sad few times I cried
I long for you - your mere presence
Just to have you by my side

The lonely nights never seem to end
The days just come and go
How it would feel to hold you in my arms
I'm afraid I might never know

All I can do is wait and hope
Hope that something will change my fate
Turn my dreams into a reality
And bring us together before it's too late

By J M Looper

The tenderness of your gentle lips as they caress my warm skin
Your rough hands melt into angelic satin as you touch my retless body
The magnetism of our togetherness overcomes me as you envelope me in an embrace
Never let go, always keep me safe in your arms
There the two of us can thrive and live and enjoy each other
Exploring, enjoying, experiencing the passion that arises
Only when the puzzle of our souls is joined together

Me
By J. M. Looper

I need you
Like the earth yearns for rain
I want you
A remedy for my pain
Just hold me
Promise never to let go
I'm asking, begging you to love me

As flowers live for sunlight
So my soul desires your touch
The lifeline to my being
I have never needed one so much

Don't deny me of my wishes
Don't lengthen or add to my sorrow
Only you hold the answer
Only for you I'll wake to tomorrow

I had to write this poem for my senior project at school - we were given the format for it and used it to express our true selves.

I Am
Jessica M Looper

I am compassionate and creative
I wonder why prejudicism exists
I hear lonely people crying out for love
I see millions of empty souls
I want a world free of sorrow
I am compassionate and creative

I pretend I am confident and content
I feel the hatred of the world on my soul
I touch the dying heart of a loved one
I worry about my future
I cry for the friends I have lost
I am compassionate and creative

I understand surviving makes one stronger
I say no one should be judged on appearance
I dream of an accepting society
I try to accomplish all my dreams
I hope I have the inner strength to do so
I am compassionate and creative

A Poem by my Friend, Michelle Drover

Did You Ever........

Did you ever feel so happy, and tingly inside,
Whenever he was by your side?
Did you ever sit down and wonder why,
He did all those things that made you cry?
Did you ever think that one day.
The time would come when he would stray?
Did you ever feel deep in your heart,
That maybe someday you would part?
Did you ever think that it may end,
And he would never again be your friend?
Did you ever ask yourself how he could be so mean,
To walk away never again to be seen?
Did you ever realize that even though all the love and hapiness you thought you shared,
That in the end you would find out that he never cared?
Even though when together you may feel like a dove,
Be careful my friend it's not always true love.

Good-Bye
Author Unknown

Wipe your tears and dry your eyes
Life seems so unfair I hate saying good-bye
You'll develop a life without me which will help pass the time
But no matter how busy we are we'll still be on each other's mind
All the happy memories we've shared together
They are unforgettable and will stay with me forever
I can't believe you will be gone
All I'll hear is your voice on the phone
But hopefully that will be enough for me not to feel alone A new life along with new people awaits you
New experiences and new friends too
So wipe your tears and dry your eyes
Then maybe it won't be so hard to say good-bye....

Sonnet #90
by Shakespeare

Then hate me when thou wilt - if ever, now--
Now, while the world if bent my deeds to cross,
Join with the spite of Fortune, make me bow,
And do not drop in for an afterloss.
Ah, do not, when my heart hath scaped this sorrow,
Come in the rearward of a conquered woe;
Give not a windy night a rainy morrow,
To linger out a purposed overthrow.
If thou wilt leave me, do not leave me last,
When other petty griefs have done their spite,
But in the onset come: so shall I taste
At first the very worst of Fortune's might;
And other strains of woe, which now seem woe,
Compared with loss of thee will not seem so.

Sonnet #73
by Shakespeare

That time of year thou mayst in me behold
When yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang
Upon those boughs which shake against the cold,
Bare, ruined choirs where late the sweet birds sang.
In me thou seest the twilight of such day
As after sunset fadeth in the west,
Which by and by black night doth take away,
Death's second self that seals up all in rest.
In me thou seest the glowing of such fire
That on the ashes of his youth doth lie,
As the deathbed whereon it must expire,
Consumed with that which it was nourished by.
This thou perceivest, which makes thy love more strong,
To love that well which thou must leave ere long.

Sonnet #18
by Shakespeare

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May;
And summer's lease hath all too short a date.
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or Nature's changing course, untrimmed:
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest,
Nor shall Death brag thou wand'rest in his shade,
When in eternal lines to Time thouh growest.
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

Sonnet #29
by Shakespeare

When, in disgrace with Fortune and men's eyes,
I all alone beweep my outcast state,
And trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries,
And look upon myself and curse my fate,
Wishing me like to one more rich in hope,
Featured like him, like him with friend's possessed,
Desiring this man's art and that man's scope,
With what I most enjoy contented least;
Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising,
Haply I think on thee, and then my state,
Like to the lark at the break of day arising
From sullen earth, sings hymns at heaven's gate;
For thy sweet love rememb'red such wealth brings
That then I scorn to change my state with kinds.

Sonnet #49
by Shakespeare

Against that time, if ever that time come,
When I shall see thee frown on my defects,
Whenas thy love hath cast his utmost sum,
Called to that audit by advised respects;
Against that time when thou shalt strangely pass
And scarcely greet me with that sun thine eye,
When love, converted from the thing it was,
Shall reasons find of settled gravity:
Against that time do I ensconce me here
Within the knowledge of mine own desert,
And this my hand against myself uprear
To guard the lawful reasons on thy part.
To leave poor me thou hast the strength of laws,
Since why to love I can allege no cause.

Love Is
By Robert E. Kogan

Love is like a river that flows into the sea;
Oceans of emotions that form a symphony--
Longing, yearning, hurting; seeking company
To sing a lovers song in two part harmony.

Love is the promised vision when sight itself is blind--
For where love is found, pain is sure to follow close behind.
Love is always changing; it evolves and grows
Becoming both the flower, and the thorn upon the rose.

Love lasts forever regardless of how brief.
For hearts are filled with wonder and with grief.
Recall each precious moment of the wonder of its starting,
And the sadness felt deep inside when the time came for its parting.

As minutes become days and as days become our years
Love becomes a lesson that our mind and spirit hears.
As an infant becomes a child, and as the child begins to grow,
Love becomes the river in which our feelings flow.

A Friend is a Treasure
By Jean Kyler McMancy

A friend is someone we turn to
When our spirits need a lift
A friend is someone we treasure
For our friendship is a gift

A friend is someone who fills our lives
With beauty, joy and grace
And makes the world that we live in
A better and happier place.

Farewell, My Little Girl
by Valdemar Gameiro

Yes, my little girl, you can stay up late
For when you fall asleep, you shall not wake

Shed no tears for the world you leave behind
These tears I shed are of happiness for you

For the pain you feel will no longer bind
And I only want what is best for you

Farewell, my little girl, you'll always be in my heart
Farewell, my little girl, we will never be apart

No, my love, I cannot tell you why
But all of us sooner or later die

Now shut your eyes and go to sleep
I don't want you to see me weep

It's always hard to say goodbye
And though I know it's the best for you

I can't help myself, and I will cry
For I love you so, I will miss you

Farewell, our little girl, you'll be forever in our heart
Farewell, our little girl, we grant you wings so you may depart

We'll always be here thinking of you
And we'll always love you, that is true

But no matter what tomorrow brings
Face it with a heart that sings

Good-byes are said, now fly away
Prepare yourself for the life to come

Take it all and never feel dismay
And know that to us you're the only one

Farewell, our little girl, I know it seems so hard
Farewell, our little girl, it's now time to depart... Farewell
