Stewart has entered the chat room

GKM has entered the chat room

bab: Stewart? The one and only?

Stewart: he'll be here any minute

rotten: i hope this is more exciting the the regis phibin thing on aol.

roxbabimback: who is regis phibin

Stewart: Stewart's here. Let's ask some questions.

roxbabimback: hey sterwart!

bab: Stewart! Welcome! First time on the net?

Rob: It is a pleasure to be talking to you...

GKM: Hello Stewart! Welcome to the net!

Stewart: Hey, excuse my typring.

nathan: hi stuart

mahoy: Where is Why hi stew

Stewart: I'm using my feet.

fandango: there's your problem

rotten: let's here some dirt stewart.

Rob: Kinda expected.

roxbabimback: What's going on with animal logic?

Stewart: What do you expect?

bab: Take off your shoes. It's easier

Rob: Whoes idea was it to come out with the live album?

Stewart: You're right, now I'm using my skull.

Stewart: k,..lsdfk,sddfkjpt hjmzxcmzxc,mcf

Nate: Oops...

Stewart: That's much better.

fandango: Oh my, it's really him..

Stewart: Animal Logic is history. But Debbie's alive and kicking.

fandango: Any AL live tapes in a vault somewhere?

bab: Weren't you going to keep doing something with Stanley Clarke?

roxbabimback: That's too bad. I saw you in Ybor city and loved it!

gator: You and Stanley laid down some wicked grooves

Stewart: Mostly all over Debbie.

fandango: ouch...

rotten: Do you plan on working with Peter Gabriel again? I liked your high hat on "So."

Nate: "Red Rain" rocks!!

Stewart: I like my hi hat, too. Gabriel -- maybe.

Stewart: Try "Across The River" by Gabriel.

mahoy: Talk about the Eddie Vedder project please

bab: Stewart, Who's idea was it to remix Voices? Did you have a say?

Toad: Caught you with the Seattle Symphony. Killer stuff.

Rob: Did you take any lessons in drumming, or did you just start playing around...

Stewart: No, the Eddie Vedder project is a complete mystery to me. Ask Eddie. I'm recording the Seattle symphony stuff. Took lots of lessons, started young.

roxbabimback: how do you feel about phil sampling you for Sussudio?

Stewart: I brag about it all the time.

MM: I'm sure you hear this ofter often, but will the Police ever reunite and tour?

Nate: And if you do reunite, can I have tickets?

Stewart: Don't know about the Police. Getting the album together was complicated enough.

Stewart: Also, Springsteen. I forget the title.

Rob: Saw you in Williamsport, PA remember that shit town in the middle of nowhere someone booked you in. Killer Show. Ever think of doing any work with Vinx?

roxbabimback: im sure.

rotten: whats andy up to, I heard he might work with steve via?

Stewart: Sure, tickets for all.

enchilada: yay

gator: Stewart, DeDododo was supposedly rerecorded in 86' along with "Don't Stand..." What became of this? I'd love to hear it.

Stewart: Andy is playing interesting stuff. He's out of jazz, thank god.

bab: Obscure question: Did you play with Cherry Vanilla on any album?

Stewart: Only on stage, never on record (thank god).

Nate: What's your favortie song?

Toad: Everyone seems to be heading back to acoustic. You've been doing a bit yourself, but you've done a lot of synth stuff. Where are you leaning these days (musically)?

gator: I agree about Andy

Stewart: Bab, where were you in '77?

bab: Grade school.

Stewart: Listening to Tricky, Bomb the Bass, PJ Harvey, Portishead.

mahoy: Gateshead show on video was great. Any chance of it being released in its entirety?

roxbabimback: How did you record 2 seperate hi hats for "Every Little Thing.."? I hear them panned left & right?

Stewart: Gateshead show -- don't think so.

rine: have you thought about bringing back Klark Kent?

fandango: The PJ Harvey's pretty good; I've been wearing the damn thing out...

Stewart: "Every Little Thing.." hi hat was recorded once but fed through digital delay. Sharp ears.

bab: Stew, how much producing was needed for live album? Weren't they both already produced? Boston - radio, Atlanta - videotape?

rotten: who was the most annoying policeman?

Stewart: Try William Orbit, Strange Cargo. Is his new one out yet?

fandango: Don't know, but I'll check em out.

Stewart: I'm afraid I was the most annoying Police-man. Andy produced the live album. Sting and I just bitched.

rotten: as long as you don't let andy sing that mis gradnsed thing

bab: Was De Do Do Do rerecorded? Will it make some obscure rarity?

Rob: Was there any talk of a reunion or is it still just wishful thinking on our part?

enchilada: Do you feel Sting's superstar status affected the live album's making in any way?

Stewart: Andy did sing on a couple tracks.

rine: IS it true that you're collaborating with Jeff Beck?

rotten: good question!

Stephen: I read in the blurb on Rocktropolis about your music being recorded by a symphony? Anything else on the horizon?

Stewart: Sting's superstar status began when he was one day old.

Stewart: Jammed with Jeff Beck last summer.

Stephen: I heard something about the Jeff Beck thing... Was anything ever recorded?

Stewart: No coherent result. But some great jams and some amazing stories. Anyone seen Spinal Tap?

rotten : have you ever played with terri bozio?

bab: Great movie!

fandango: Spinal Tap:Worn out a copy of that too....

bab: But this goes to 11...

Stewart: No, haven't played with Terry, but I'm sure we could swap Jeff Beck stories.

enchilada: do you feel the Police lived up to the group's fullest potential?

bab: Didn't you perform with some Blues Brothers concert a few months back? What was that all about?

Stephen: Anything more with Stanley Clarke? I was enjoying he... his and your playing with Animal Logic.

Stewart: Police was the perfect parabola for a group. Nobody died, nobody got arrested, we all got rich.

Stewart: Stanley Clarke is trying to beat me out of the film composing market.

Stewart: I taught him everything he knows.

roxbabimback: good!

Stephen: Yeah, I've been seeing quite a lot of his film stuff... but a lot of yours as well.

roxbabimback: I'm dying to hear you guys again!

Stewart: Buy the record.

Stephen: Buy which record?

rotten: Have you seen Batman Returns yet? Could you have played the Riddler?

bab: Considering only your solo work (and that guy KK's), what are you most proud of?

Stewart: Any record.

enchilada: Did you feel musically restricted at all while in the Police or did you get to express your musicianship freely?

rine: By the way, Happy Birthday a month and 4 days early!

gator: I'm interested in producing myself and I wondered what goes through your head when you compose those soundtracks, etc... What room do you leave for improv, how do you come up with your unorthadox instrumentations?

Stewart: Rhythmatist. I'm most proud of Rhythmatist.

Stewart: Thanks, rine.

bab: Gong Rock is great! Any plans to rerelease the video?

Stewart: Gator - Run the scene, tap your foot, feel the beats of the dialogue, and lay out a tune. It's like making model airplanes.

Stephen: Another thing I've been wondering... Was it your idea to take Rhythmatist on the road, or someone else's?

Stewart: Mahoy - correct.

Dad: When and with whom are you going out live next?

bab: and is she over 18?

Stewart: Rhythmatist tour was someone else's idea. Not bad, it was a blast.

Nate: Stew, how did you get to be so cool?

Stewart: Dad - going out next with Dogs of Desire.

Rob: Even in Williamsport, PA?

fandango: It was an aMAZing show. Saw you in Raleigh NC last Feb.

Stewart: To Nate - I'm taking lessons.

Dad: When's that?

enchilada: did you feel restricted musically in the police

Stephen: I kinda figured it was someone elses idea... Gave alot of exposure to some artists that wouldn't have gotten it otherwise.

Stewart: THE FUTURE.

gator: I wish that tour came a little closer to good ol' NH (or Boston) I'd love to see a tour of world percussionists again sometime

Stewart: The Police was liberating, but band life in general was restricting.

bab: Stewart, care to join the Police mailing list on the internet?

Stephen: When does the recording of the symphony stuff come out?

fandango: Hence the soundtrack/solo stuff? was band life a problem in AL too?

Stewart: In Animal Logic, film life was a problem.

synthesizer: this question is a bit off the topic, perhaps, but I was interested in finding out how you got started in music arts management. when you were in college, how much did music did you study and what kinds? Did you play in any bands then before Curved Air?

Dad: Is this your first visit to rocktropolis? Have you s much of the net?

Dad: s = seen

Stewart: Only college bands before Curved Air.

fandango: So it was solo stuff that you focused on at that point...

Stewart: Music art management? I started as a roadie.

Stewart: University of the Road.

Kat: Which of the Police albums are you most proud of?

bab: What were your feelings about the boxed set? You realize of course, that it doesn't contain "every note"

synthesizer: when do most of your ideas for songs come to you? at night , like at 3am, or at other odd moments?

Nate: Things they would not teach you of in college?

Stewart: Dad -correct again.

Dad: Thanks, son.

rine: Did you guys have say in which songs were chosen for the live album or did the record company choose?

Stewart: Songs ideas come while walking on the mountain ridge with the wind lightly ruffling my beard and the storm-tossed clouds thrusting thunderbolts, etc etc

roxbabimback: ha ha

Stewart: Andy chose the songs.

synthesizer: And all of a sudden a great lighting bolt of inspiration struck...

Stewart: Something like that.

rotten: do you know danny elfman- the soundtrack thing and all

bab: Is it true that there is *ahem* bad blood between you and E. Schoener?

Stewart: Actually, the only way to work is to sit down and work.

fandango: Stewart, my band covered "Don't Care" and I played trombone on the guitar solo; wanna her(uh HEAR) a tape?

gator: Could you please tell Klark Kent to compose.... hey the Wall of Voodoo is putting out new stuff and I love what you (cough er..) he represents in the pop scene.

Stewart: Sounds obvious, but you should never need to wait for inspiration.

Stewart: fandango -- yes, I want to hear a tape - Jesus!

Stewart: Gator - the Klark Kent stuff has recently been released uner the title Klark Kent Komplete.

bab: What songs are you least proud of

fandango: Oh and this is a dead band, so we're not fishing for a contract or anything. Cool! In fact, you and I talked about this after an AL show in Phila, and we swapped stories about swearing to almighty god that the otes WE were playing were right(uh oh, )...

gator: I appreciate it and would love to hear more. Im a greedy capitalist when it comes to certain music

Stewart: That's Complete with a C.

rine: Who influenced you the most musically?

synthesizer: what advice would you give as far as getting started and breaking through in the music world. I've been writing my own stuff for piano for the last few years, but want to get started playing around places. Any suggestions?

fandango: notes we were playing were right, and everyone ELSE in the band was wrong. you won't recall...it was 5 years ago...

Stewart: Any more questions?

rotten: oj?

bab: Just picked up the Highlander soundtrack! Great tunes! Are you playing guitar on that one track?

roxbabimback: do you know what happened to kennedy rose?

nathan: why did the CD release date keep getting pushed back??

fandango: Yeah, where can I send the tape?? Kidding, kinda, but I think it's fun.

synthesizer: just that one I asked before- I don;t know if it popped up though or not.

Stewart: Sorry, synthesizer.

Stephen: When is your symphony stuff that was mentioned coming out?

Stewart: Bab - try Rapa Nui.

rotten: does one make money doinf film scores versus sucessful bands?

gator: Rapa Nui is great

Stephen: But the movie sucked.

GKM: What's the coolest world music cd you've heard?

Stewart: I've got to finish the symphony stuff, It's called Orchestrian.

bab: Stewart, you don't know how obsessed we are. Of course we've tried Rapa Nui! Please, be more obscure!

gator: -GKM good question

Stewart: Steven - correct. More money in films.

Stewart: How 'bout Silent Fall?

mahoy: was the opera voice on does everyone stare really a radio signal. I have freinds who are convicnced that is not a true story?

rotten: how would you use your crown to promote world peace and unity?

Stewart: Mahoy - correct.

enchilada: what aspect of band life did you enjoy (or dread) more....touring or in the studio?

Stewart: I lent it to Sting, Rotten.

bab: Got it. You composed, but what about playing? Who is Jeff Seitz? You and Sting have worked with him a lot. Is he a studio musician, or in another band?

GKM: What do you write on these days? Keys"?

roxbabimback: ha ha

Stewart: Enchilada - touring life is fun, stage life esctatic, studio life Hell.

synthesizer: didn't he do drums for one of the tracks on the brimstone soundtrack?

rotten: we all have our cross to bear...ce ya stew

Stewart: Jeff Seitz is my trusty studio recording engineer of the last 15 years. He started as a roadie for the Police.

rotten: exit

Stewart: GKM I use a professional performer.

tricia: When do you plan to return to rock and roll?? The soundtracks are fine, but.... We need you drumming!!

nathan: why was the CD release date moved around so much?

GKM: Is that a MAC thang?

gator: How did you like being a part of the "Requiem for the Americas" team???????

Stephen: As an aspiring drummer, I second that!

Stewart: Check the drumming on Orchestrian.

Stewart: Nathan, I don't know.

Stephen: I can't wait.

Stewart: GKM - yep, that's a Mac.

Stewart: Gator - only did one session, seemed fine to me.

rine: Is there anyone you'd like to work with whom you haven's yet?

enchilada: is there anyone in particular you've been longing to jam with?

mahoy: Which was your favorite Police tour----was it the much lauded early Outlandous?

gator: An interesting production job by Jon Elias

Stewart: rine - Atilla the Hun.

bab: Stewart, just wanted to let you know the songs I was most impressed with your drumming on: I burn for you, Darkness (played in one channel, and repeated in another), and that song that starts with the typewriter combined with your drumming.

Stewart: Gator - yes Elias is a clever fellow.

GKM: Ever play tablas? I've got afew cause I dig the sound. Now I need to find someone to show me how to play 'em.

Therese: saw you in concert in Williamspot PA -- o boy. Anyway you were with Vinx - Pretty exciting. So tell me do you live like everyone else. You know clean your own house go to the grocery store etc.

Stewart: Tablas are real hard. Just whack 'em.

Stephen: Mom is that you?

Therese: Yea steve it is me.

Nate: I like the Police songs that you _wrote_, like Darkness, Does Everybody Stare, Contact, etc...

Stewart: Hitting them is not the hard part, it's counting those outlandish Indian rhythms that takes higher education.

Stewart: Thanks, nate.

Nate: They're some of my favorite Police songs...

bab: So, can I plug the police mailing list again?

gator: Yeah , supposedly 15 years at least

GKM: I figured I'd start out with the hand-to-drum coordination. I'll do my Indian counting later....

Stewart: Wha'

Stewart: Try head - to - drum coordination.

Stephen: Yeah, those of us on the mailing list often wonder if you or Andy or Sting know that we exist.

fandango: I'll agree with Nate about the Police songs. And ask how the KK rerelease came about; was it your idea? face any flak?

Stephen: An internet fan discussion group.

Stewart: No, we don't know that you exist, but we do now.

enchilada: do you have an opinion on today's rock music

bab: We could use your perspective on our drivilous cr*p

GKM: Hmm. Head-to-drum. I haven't seen that in any of the books. Is that a Jerry Lewishing?

Stewart: Show me some crap.

roxbabimback: Stewart, just want to let you know that you're one of the most amazing percussionists ive ever heard-------Can you still keep up with Regatta de Blanc?

gator: that list has some intelligent discussion on your career, (opinions of course) (you just have to sift through some less intelligent......

Stephen: Yes, an email to "police@xmission.com" will send a message to all of us. Must be over a hundred of us.

Stewart: I've been practicing.

bab: seiously, if you are interested in checking it out, let me know.

tricia: Can we follow logical trhhereads?

Nate: What the mailing list does is let Police fans discuss all sorts of stuff mainly what you guys have been up to lately...

tricia: Is it too much to ask? I',m confused..

gator: Just think of the new marketing of percussive head gear!!!]

bab: What do you think of the Voices Inside My Head Remixes?

Stewart: What are we up to lately?

Nate: You tell us!

roxbabimback: good question?

bab: You'll be appearing in some chat group, i hear.

fandango: (following from Nate)(...or what we THINK you've been up to lately.

synthesizer: What has Andy Summers been up to?

bab: Plus, there's the what color are Sting's eyes threads.

fandango: ...god I hate those threads...

Stewart: The Voices Inside My Head ARE NOT BY THE POLICE. I have shouted and screamed myself hoarse on the subject of those feragos. It's a complete rip-off convoluted by those assholes at the record company.

tricia: We actually talk about Klark Kent alot...

fandango: YES! Stewart, that's what we wanted to hear...

GKM: Any chance of posting a cool S midi file rhythm on the net somewhere (like - here!)

bab: YAY! I am SO happy to hear you say that!

gator: Thank goodness (about remixes)

Stephen: From what I've heard the remixes suck, so I'm glad to hear you have nothing to do with it.

enchilada: i would like to leave with a comment: very few bands posessed the musicianship the police had in the hair-spray dominated eighties. it just goes to show good music never goes out of style.

Nate: We also trade live concerts of the Police. It's hard to fathom how many different concert recordings got loose...

Jon: Hey, a MIDI file would be great (\

bab: Do you know if Sting gave his blessings for his remixes?

roxbabimback: Is Don't stand so close to me '8? you? why mee ss with perfection?

Stewart: I actually got to shout "What part of NO don't you understand? No part." I don't think Sting ever heard them.

mahoy: do you think the atlanta show was a wise choice for the long anticiapated live album?

tricia: Stewart, ever consider drumming for Crowded House??

Stewart: "Don't Stand So Close To Me" remnixes were Sting's idea. As far as I was concerned, any excuse to get Sting into the studio...

roxbabimback: but it made you nmoney!

bab: Is it true that the Police catalog is going to be release on CD again? Talk about milking the fans. Do you know if there will be bonus tracks?

Stewart: Then my horse did a somersault and I broke a shoulderblade and I had to do the drums on a sequencer.

synthesizer: which version of Don't Stand So Close To Me do you like better? the older or newer one?

Nate: Stew, no need to quote the box set... =)

bab: Wasn't De Do Do Do De Da Da Da rerecorded? Why haven't we seen this?

Stewart: Yes the Police catalogue is being rereleased, Same album , new art, new title. Don't be fooled.

Stephen: We won't... or I won't

mahoy: [Dhow did you fatally insult sting in the studcio?

Nate: And did he really come in with a switchblade?

bab: and a rose?

Stewart: I read him a review of Bride of Frankenstein.

Stewart: Correct, a switchblade and a rose.

roxbabimback: ha!

rine: So when will the next Police compilation come out? Or hasn't the record company started planning that yet?

Stewart: Soon.

gator: Stewart I'd just like to say that (forget the police) your solo work makes you one of my favorites.... The Rumblefish is precious, The Equalizer, The Rhythmatist , KK, etc. each one is so original. and speaking of originality, what do you think of the latest slew of pop artists

roxbabimback: is the record company still your brother?

Stewart: NO.

bab: Did you have a falling out with Eberhard Schoener? He gives you credits on some tracks, sometimes,.

Stewart: Different shark.

Stewart: Good old Eberhard, no problem.

Rob: Any chance for a re-release of the REqualizer. I can't find in anywhere...

bab: Are there any songs you wrote that you wish you could take back?

Stewart: Might do Cliffhanger 2, got lots more stuff.

Rob: Cliffhanger 2 would be cool...

fandango: (cliffhanger two) that'd be great.

MM: Are you on good terms with the other two "cops?"

roxbabimback: I like you each individually and collectively. so dont feel bad about the split. it made some great music, thank god!

Stewart: But it's all real rough and only for real aficionados (no hit single).

fandango: Hit singles are overrated...

Stewart: Get along fine with other two.

fandango: ...almost by definitions..

Rob: how often do you talk to the others?

bab: Sting and Andy have jammed a number of times. Why haven't you joined in? I was positive you were going to get on stage during Sting's 40th at the Hollywood Bowl.

Stewart: During Sting's 40th I was in Tahiti, thank god.

Stewart: Andy and Miles almost got into a fist fight.

bab: He did look pissed

Kat: Who came up with the group's name, anywas?

bab: What was that all about?

Rob: So miles realy does have a hell of a temper huh?

rine: What other songs did you guys perform at Sting's wedding besides Message in a Bottle?

Stewart: Sign the papers, young man.

Stewart: So does Andy.

Nate: Yeah, why did you name the group "The Police"?

Stewart: Rine - Roxanne. We are now a weddings and bar mitzvahs band.

roxbabimback: ha!

Stewart: "The Police" -- free publicity in every city in the world.

Rob: Good one stew...

gator: It all goes full circle doesnt it

roxbabimback: can you do my bitrthday?

bab: Stewart, Andy is older than Mick Jagger! Is it *Unrealistic* to believe there could be a reunion (that would tour near Boston so I could see it!)

Stewart: Gator - no, weddings are new for me.

rine: So would you guys play at my wedding?

Stewart: How much?

yowisbackwhatsthebes: under $500.

roxbabimback: how much you want to give?

Stewart: Times 3?

Stewart: Or have we got to split it?

Nate: Hell, I'd chip in!

rine: It depends on how much you want.

bab: Absolutely.

Stewart: In that case, make it $2000 because Miles gets a cut.

tricia: I could handle that for the police!

Nate: Sure! We have a deal!

rine: It's a deal!

Stewart: Tricia - I'll put YOU on OUR mailing list.

gator: Yeah and throw free beer on top of it

roxbabimback: yup youre in trouble now.

fandango: Was there pressure to appear at Sting's 40th?

fandango: y'know, I erreally WOULD like to send you a tape of our cover of Don't care

fandango: I don't think I'm getting through anymore.....

tricia: Do it Stwaewart??!!

Jon: speaking of free beer, that's a great band name also.

bab: Wait. You'ld better bring DJ equipment for when you break or the deal is off!

tricia: I want to be on your mailing list!! I have tons to talk about...

synthesizer: me too.

Stewart: Fandango - no. Just as long as we don't have to play any hits.

roxbabimback: you can play death metal covers of Air Supply tunes.

bab: Stewart, what is your going rate? When you play a concert that is?

Stewart: One last question, then I've got to go.

Rob: where is home base for you

whoisthatguy: hi stew

tricia: Will you ever join another R&R band>??

Stephen: After you'd learned the drums, how did you pick up the guitar... Someone teach you, or did you learn by watching and reading books as such?

bab: Will you join the Police mailing list? Will you have a beer with me?

gator: -tricia good question

whoisthatguy: did you ever play the gorge ampitheatre in washington state?

rine: My 21st is July 6. Will you have a beer with me?

Jon: -great to hear from you Stew

Nate: Yeah, new you could pull rank, Stew... No Stings to contend with if you made a new band...

gator: bab- good question

Stewart: No other rock band, LA, self-taught (easy), yes, no, no. See you later . Bye!

-the end..
