Hello,
Your Fred W Rima was born 15 September, 1875 at Owasco, Michigan where his parents lived for a very short time. He returned to the Martinsburgh area where his father and mother ran a dry goods store. Fred was the son of Dealton H Rima (1850-1920) and Mary Matilda Burley (1850-1933).
I have in my posession a PHOTOCOPY of a diary kept by Dealton Rima for a year about 1883/1884 which I would be happy to share with you. There are a few mentions of family , but mostly day to day activities were recorded.
Dealton H Rima was the eldest son of Daniel Ira Rima (1824-1912) who
lived in Oswego County, New York most of his life. Daniel was one
of four sons of George and Mary (Rima) Rima. Yes, that is correct...
Daniel Ira's parents were first cousins (not that uncommon in those days).
George Rima was born in 1805 at East Schuyler, Herkimer County, New York
and died at Pulaski,
New York in 1889 aged 84 years. He is buried near the top of
the hill at Evergreen Cemetery in Orwell. His wife, Mary Rima
was born in 1801 at East Schuyler, New York and died in 1876 at Pulaski.
George was the son of Peter (1772-1844) and Cathareine (Huffstater) Rema of East Schuyler, New York. George was a grandson of John and Catherine Rima who emigrated from Germany to America in 1765 aboard the ship Betsey. They settled at East Schuyler, New York with many friends and neighbors from their old country.
Mary Rima was the daughter of Jacob (176_ -1819) and his wife
Dorothea (Plantz) Rima. Jacob and Dorothea left the Esat Schuyler
area for Rome, New York during the construction of the Erie Canal.
Jacob was a revolutionary war veteran. His widow lived until the
1840's. Jacob was the son of the same John and Catherine Rima who
emigrated from Germany to East Schuyler in
1765. I would be more than happy to share much more information on
this line in trade for whatever you may have on the descendants of Fred
W Rima.
Fred had Leon, Leo and Thelma. I believe Leon had just one daughter, Louise Theiser who I have ahd contact with and have most of her children/grain my book. Leo had no children to my knowledge and Thelma passed away in 1963 aged only 58 years. (She was married to Albert Weller.) I am not sure if she had any children.
Let me know what you have and I will share whatever I have.
Anxious to hear from you.
