Melissa,

Sue Porter suggested that I contact you to see whether you might recognize some Cape May, NJ, Ingersolls that are part of my family tree.

I have Emma (Amy) Ingersoll, b. 21 May 1807, d. 22 Sept. 1901.  On 26 Aug. 1823 she married McBride Corson, b. 14 May 1792, d. 11 Apr. 1871. He was the son of Parmenas Corson and Priscilla Cresse.  I have information on their children, and about the Corson ancestors.

I understand that Emma was the daughter of Ebenezer Ingersoll, d. 19 July 1837, and Deborah Springer, d. 10 June 1823.  They were married 11 March 1806.  That is all I know about the Ingersoll and Springer lines (I just haven't had the time to start researching them.)

Do you know these folks, and can you tell anything more about their ancestors, etc.?

Perhaps I can offer some help in return  --  What other names are you researching?

Melissa,

I visited your website and saw that you did not have Emma (Amy) Ingersoll (who married McBride Corson) connected to any parents.  I assume, then, that you might be using my input to connect her with Ebenezer Ingersoll and Deborah Springer.

In my database I have "Bible Record" as the source for information on Ebenezer, Deborah and Emma.  I have looked through my collection of document copies, but I cannot find this Bible record.  I must have hand-copied the information and then discarded my notes once it was in the computer.  When I visit the Cape May Historical Society again I will try to locate the Bible record.  If you would like a copy, let me know.

You provided the following:

> Generation No. 1
>
> 1.  EBENEZER7 INGERSOLL  (EBENEZER6, DANIEL5, DANIEL4, JOHN3, SYMON2
> INGERSOLE, INKERSALL1) was born Abt. 1757 in Gloucester Co., N.J., and
died
> July 19, 1837.  He married (1) NANCY SPRINGER March 06, 1796 in Cape May
> Co., NJ.  He married (2) DEBORAH SPRINGER March 11, 1806 in Cape May Co.,
> NJ.
>
> More About EBENEZER INGERSOLL:
> Known As: Abe
> Fact 4: Served in the Revolutionary War
>
>  Children of EBENEZER INGERSOLL and DEBORAH SPRINGER are:
>  i. ELIZABETH8 INGERSOLL, m. CHARLES LAKE, July 16, 1815, Cape May Co.,
NJ.
>  ii. RUTH INGERSOLL, m. PHILIP GERACE (GRACE), August 01, 1819.
>  iii. ANN INGERSOLL.
> 2. iv. EBENEZER INGERSOLL , JR., b. Abt. 1803; d. 1842, Ohio.
>  v. EMMA (AMY) INGERSOLL, b. May 21, 1807; d. September 22, 1901; m.
MCBRIDE
> CORSON, August 26, 1823, Upper Twp., New Jersey.

Based on the marriage dates for Elizabeth and Ruth, it would appear that they would have been children of Nancy rather than Deborah.  (I have no information on Nancy's children.)  However, below is the information I have regarding Ebenezer and Deborah's children.  I have no "Bible
Record" notation as the source for the children other than Emma, but I assume I must have obtained their information from the same Bible record.  Note also the different date of birth for Ebenezer, Jr., from what you had.

I hope this will be useful to you.

Ken

Melissa,

Ruth Ingersoll married Philip Grace 1 Aug 1819.  Philip was born 16 Mar 1793 and died 20 Mar 1864.  They had a child Jesse Springer Grace, b. 30 Jan 1821, d. 14 Oct. 1906  who married Mary Corson b abt 1826, d. 24 Jun 1899, m. 11 Mar 1848.  I have more on their descendants, if you want.

Ruth apparently died before 21 Jul 1827, when Philip married Hannah (Dagg) Hand Corson.

I also can give you as much as you want on descendants of Alexander Corson, son of Emma and McBride.
