I am editor of the newsletter for the Goff/Gough Family Association.
Your questions interested me so I looked through the indices of back issues
to see if there was anything that could help you.
In Vol. V, No. 2 (Spring 1986) we published Goff Marriage records in
Cape May Co., NJ. There were 21 Goff marriages there between 1798 and 1877.
In Book B, p. 114, is the marriage of Mary Goff and Aaron Eldridge, by
John Townsend, Jr., Elder. The marriage is dated 10 Feb 1841. This gives
you a place to start looking. I suspect some of the other listed marriages
of this time period
may have been of siblings or other relatives of Mary Goff. I can make
you a copy of this and send by snail mail if you would like.
In Vol. XII, No. 4 (Fall 1993) is an article on Philip Goff of Wethersfield,
CT. Children of Philip and Rebecca Goff include
Jacob, b. 15 Aug 1649; d. at Wethersfield21 Oct 1697; m. 5 Dec 1679,
Margery Ingersoll, dau. of John and Dorothy (Lord) Ingersoll. I know this
is too early for your Ingersoll connection, but thought it was interesting
these families were intermarrying earlier. I didn't find any other listing
for Ingersoll.
Our Goff/Gough Family Association was founded in 1882 and members have
been
helping each other in family research for the past sixteen years. We
publish four issues of the quarterly each year plus an index. Articles
and items submitted by members are published. We also list members' names,
addresses, and information on earliest Goff/Gough ancestor and other family
lines being researched. Hopefully, this will assist members in contacting
others who are
researching the same branches of the family they are. We would be glad
to have queries and other information on your Goff family for publication.
Send me your postal address and I will mail you a copy of our latest
newsletter and an application form. Why not join us in our mutual efforts
to discover more about our Goff/Gough ancestors.
Bob B. Goff, Editor G/G:A&D
