Hi Melissa,
I found a note in a GARRETSON flat file at the Cape May Co Historical & Genealogy library several years ago...
Garrettson
Children of Elijah and 1st wife Tabitha Garrettson
Rachel Garrettson m Eldredge
Elizabeth " m 1st Chevy 2nd Isaac
Stites
Anna
" m Smith
Martha " m Parsons
Mary
" m Veal
Esther " (single)
Children of Elijah and Elizabeth (Johnson m 4/26/1823) Garrettson 2d
wife Noah Garrettson
I don't know who wrote the note, but wonder if it might have been a
Marie E. Garretson who had written a nice piece on the GARRETSONs in their
June 1955 booklet (Vol 4 bk#1, p32).
That piece says Elijah was the son of Noah & Mary (GOLDEN) GARRITSEN.
It gave no parents for Mary GOLDEN, but Noah GARRITSEN was the son of Rem
& Rebekah (HUBBARD) GARRITSEN. Rem GARRITSEN was the son of Gerrit
REMMERSON. Rebekah HUBBARD was the daughter of Lt James & Elizabeth
(BAILEY) HUBBARD. Lt James HUBBARD was the son of Henry & Margaret
HUBBARD. Elizabeth BAILEY was the daughter of John & Rebecca
BAYLES.
Do you have anything on the parents of Tabitha (GODFREY) GARRETSON or
Mary (GOLDEN) GARRITSEN? Probably not.
If you find who the CHEVY, SMITH and VEAL husbands of Elijah GARRETSON's
daughters where, please let me know. Benjamin F. PARSONS' grandfather
Benjamin PARSONS 2m Phebe (PLATTS) VEAL. I suspect Mary GARRETSON's
husband was a descendant of Phebe (PLATTS) VEAL.
Have a nice day!
Mark

The Cape May Co Magazine (Vol 4, Jun 1955, mentioned in earlier note)
says there might be a question as to Garrit REMMERSON's surname.
Some believe it was Garrit STYNAKER, who's father was Jan SNEDIKER.
The latter came from Holland to New Amsterdam before 1642 and helped lay
out what later was known as Flatbush. In any case, Garrit REMMERSON's,
or Garrit STYNAKER's son...
