Melissa,
I was just looking at your Fish information on the my-ged.com site. I have suspected Benjamin Fish and Keziah Rounds to be ancestors of mine for years, but have been unable to prove it. Please tell me what you think:
My ancestor Susannah Fish was born in 1771 in Massachusetts. In
1796 she married Matthew Bunn in Rehobeth, MA. In 1800 they were
living in Bridgewater, Windsor Co., VT. In 1820 they were in Niagara Co.,
NY; in 1830 Erie Co., NY. They moved to Calhoun Co., Michigan and
Susannah died there in 1849. Matthew and Susannah's childen were:
Matthew, George, Keziah, Nathaniel, Loren, Polly, Abigail and Benjamin.
I can't find a birth record in Rehobeth for Susannah, but I did see the marriage record of Benjamin Fish and Keziah Round. At first this jumped right out at me, because of the fairly unusual name Keziah. I figured that it must be Susannah's parents. But then I learned that Matthew Bunn had a sister Keziah and also an aunt Keziah.
The other thing that made me suspect Benjamin and Keziah as Susannah's parents was that Benjamin was from Dighton, MA, which is also where the Bunns were from.
But now seeing your information and learning that Benjamin and Keziah Fish had a son George Fish and that they lived only about 15 miles away from my Bunn family in VT, I really think I may have been right all along.
There was a John Fish buried near Susannah Bunn that we have guessed was her brother. He was born in 1784 and died in 1868 in Calhoun Co., MI. He married Emma Woodard. Their children were: Olive, Malinda, Reuben, Robert, Lucy, John, Emma, George W., Samuel, Nehemiah, Milo, Daniel Freeman, Martha and Emma. His daughter Malinda was born in 1809 in Windsor Co., VT and married Loren Bunn (probably her 1st cousin).
Do you have any other information that might support this possibility that my Susannah was the sister of your George??? What do you think of all this?
I look forward to hearing from you,
Patrick
