Well, finally, somebody put parts of my line on this list.  Although I'm not from Orrville directly, we share the same ancestor,
Elijah (b. 1762 m. 18 Aug 1799 1799 Tn. of Guilford, Windham, VT., to Persis Houghton (1762-4 Apr. 1824 Clayton, N. Y.) Elijah d. April 1826;they are buried at Three Mile Creek Cemetery, near Depauville/Clayton, Jeff. Co., N. Y.

They had a Seth, b. 1800) m. Polly Putnam (another of my line in that brother and sister each married Putnams).  Don't know Seth's deathsite, but I believe it may have been in Oswego Co., N. Y. (near Oswego twp.) Maybe I have it, I'll look around).  There's an awful mixed up being made as to how many kids Elijah & Persis ALLEN had...and I sometimes wonder how people think this lady at her age could have had all the kids that are being assigned to her by various researchers.

Anyways, Seth & Polly Putnam Allen went to Oswego County, N. Y., where they had your Orville in 1824.     Besides
your Orville and the Elbridge and Clinton, they had a James who m.Adele Gegoux and had a huge family AND ANNETTE NTOINETTE ALLEN, B. 1867 and she married Geeorge DORR and also an Orville Allen, Jr. who m. a Betsey Reed.  James' people mostly stayed around Lyme Twp. - one moved to MI

In that you are descended from Orville and Hannah (right?), I can give you the name of someone who is working on that line;  They're more into the Rodgers end than the Allen side.

So, to sum it up, I don't know the father of Elijah...have been to VT searhing to no avail.  Elijah's marriage to Persis is
at Salt Lake and I have a copy of the report -- you can find it at VT, also.  On one of your messages you mention a Bartholomew and Abigail....who are they?Are they possibly the parents of Elijah or grandparents?  There
are so many ALLENS in VT that it would be impossible to find the parents of Elijah... well, Melissa, that's enough for now.
Please keep in touch...and I have lots of data on this family...I put it into my FTM constantly....a well-known descendant just
died recently...Pauline Johndrow Flick.  Salt Lake City has a file on this family, but it whacky.  So much to write about.
