Characteristics of Prekindergartners-3

Where are they emotionally?

Because kids these ages are sensitive to everything, you need to do several things to deal with this, and to use it for your advantage!

Know each kid's name, the family history, their grade in school, etc. IN SHORT, KNOW EVERYTHING YOU CAN ABOUT THE INDIVIDUAL KID!

Remember, since kids these ages relate to everything in concrete terms, you represent God, and His love to the kid!

Use the kid's name whenever you talk to them. Don't refer to them using some sort of "catch all" type "non-name," like buddy, friend, etc.

When a kid's talking to you, give them your undivided attention! I know that this is hard when you constantly have other kids vying for your attention, but the original kid'll appreciate you trying.

As I already said, but it bears repeating, bend down to their level, and stop what you're doing!

When talking back to them, answer appropriately, always using your "new learned" speaking a kid's language. AND ALWAYS SHOW THAT YOU CARE!

Remember...as you show geniuine interest in how the kid feels, what they have to say, etc., you are showing them that God cares about them personally!

And remember...
God's Word demonstrated to a kid, is remembered when what you say is long forgotten!

An aside...
Be careful of the way that you handle your Bible. Just like everything else, your handling of that situation carries a longlasting impact when it comes to the attitude that kids develop toward God's Word!
