ISRA'S MESSAGE:
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Assalaamu
'alaikum. ISRA is a South Carolina-based organization with an informal setup. Our members
and supporters are spread throughout neighboring states and beyond. We belong to different
mosques, Islamic centers, organizations, ethnic groups, and schools of thought.
Nonetheless, we come together on the basis of our understanding that our ultimate
loyalties are with Allah and His messenger (SAWS). Our ultimate affiliation is with the
universal Muslim Ummah (community) on the basis of the declaration of unity: "there
is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah."
ISRA believes that when the love of Allah and His messenger (SAWS) permeates our hearts,
it is easy to transcend the barriers of separation and become one ummah. ISRA is striving
to build a broad coaliton of Muslims from different perspectives to work on common issues
and concerns. We do not believe that it is necessary to give up all of our differences;
however, it is important that we set them aside and work on issues that affect us all. Our
annual conferences are geared toward these goals. At a time when Muslim scholars are
eagerly engaged in dialogues with Christians, Jews, and others, is it not right for them
to have dialogue amongst themselves? If you share these goals and interests, then please
join us in attaining them whole-heartedly.--Syed Zainul Abedin
