Doc's Baseball Forever
Welcome to the South Shore Baseball Homepage.
I hope
you enjoy your stay with the 1997 11 year old
team.
After they won the States, the
11 year old team went on to Florida for the
Nationals. They went 3-4. The first game was
against
Eden Prairie, Minn. They lost that game 14-0
after 4
innings by the mercy rule. The second game
was against Tampa Bay, Florida. South Shore
was
defeated
9-3. So their hopes of going to the medal
rounds were
rapidly falling. The third game was against
Cinncinati, Ohio.
South Shore dominated winning 11-0. Their
record was
not good enough for the medal rounds so they
went on
to the consolation rounds. There they met the
Lakeview(New Orleans, Louisiana), Vikings.
The game
was a defensive battle.
South Shore gave it all they had, but that
was not
enough. Lakeview came out on top 3-1. In a
do-or-die
situation, South Shore played Iowa. This
time, South
Shore were the ones who came out on top
winning 7-6.
Now in order for them to make it to the last
eight
teams in the consolation round, alot of
prayers had
to be said and alot of things had to be put
in place.
First, Lakeview had to lose to Iowa by 6
runs.
Lakeview lost by enough!! Now SSBC's success
was
sitting on their own shoulders; they had to
win. They
did 7-4. South Shore made the final eight of
the
consolation round. In order for them to make
it to
the final four, they had to beat Charlotte,
NC. South
Shore had the win all the way, until the
bottom of
the sixth. The Charlotte Lightning scored 9
runs
that inning and tied it up. The game had to
go into
extra innings. The game went into nine
innings. Both
teams had played their hearts out, but only
one could
win. It was the Lightning. They won 10-9.
The SSBC
guys had played their best during the entire
10 days.
They couldn't be disapointed with themselves,
they
had played their best. The team is now trying
to make
it to the 12 year old Nationals in Minnesota.
All
wasn't lost at those Florida games. The guys
had
learned to play their best. And now they were
a team.
Stay tuned to see what happens at the
Virginia
Blasters' tournament in April.
