Brittany's Web Page

Welcome to my web page. I hope you find my page interesting and learn alot about Rett Syndrome, which is what I have. You can learn more about Rett Syndrome at International Rett Syndrome Association and you can see me and several of my Rett friends here Rett Angel Photo Gallery. The rett gallery page keeps growing all the time so don't forget to check it often.

My name is Brittany Consbruck. I am 19 years old and I graduated from Hastings High school in 2007 in Hastings, Nebraska. I have an older sister named Megan and a younger brother named Justin. My parents are Dan Consbruck and Shanna Consbruck. My sister pushed my wheelchair across the stage at graduation. I thought that was pretty cool! She was so proud of me and I was proud of her for being there for me.

My father sales Frito-Lay products and my mom works in human services. Sister Megan is studying to be a special education teacher and will graduate in May '08 from Hastings College. My brother Justin is a sophomore in high school.

This is a picture of Megan and Justin with me on graduation day. I also have a step brother named Justin and a step sister named Ashley. My pets are a black lab named Bear and a mini dachshund named Reggie.

Some of my nicknames are: B, Brit and Brittany Girl. The top picture is from several years ago. Mom and Dad took me to Omaha one day and had Glamour Shots taken just before a big surgery. Whew...what a day that was. They tossed and turned my hair, then they put this yucky stuff all over my face and kept saying "oh, how pretty", then they took me in and out of my wheelchair and put outfit after outfit on my body till they found just the right ones for pictures. Personally, I like the one in the Harley Davidson outfit and you can see that one below.

I guess I should tell you a secret.....I cannot talk (which is part of my syndrome) so everything you are reading is put together from my Mom and her internal instincts of what SHE thinks I am thinking. And she's sometimes right!

Anyway, I cannot walk, or eat through my mouth either. I am fed through a button in my stomach. It doesn't hurt though. And I have this really cool wheelchair. Best thing of all...I don't have to work, pay bills or date boys!!! Mom is pretty sad about the last one but she survives after seeing what other girls my age go through. *lol* I've had surgery for scolisis and I can sit up very straight now.

I have another picture (from long ago) which was taken as my attitude shot. I like this one the best. Do you?

One of my favorite things to do is watch my brother and sister get into trouble (this makes me giggle), and shopping of course. I LOVE TO SHOP!!! My Mom and Dad take me shopping when they can. I have respite providers who help with my bath and therapy.

During the summer of '98 we went white water rafting in Colorado and that was fun. We also met Hollywood Hogan on this trip. The WCW guys were in town and stayed at the same hotel as us. Here is a picture of me in the raft right after we finished our trip and also a picture of us kids with Hulk Hogan (he called himself Hollywood Hogan back then).

Well, I need to go now....send me email sometime. I would love to hear from you. And if you ever have any questions about Rett Syndrome, send them my way......I will do my best to answer them. And if I can't, I will just ask some of my Rett Sisters and get back to you.

Bye for now, Brittany
