.....APPLICATION.....
MATERIALS NEEDED:
Things you will need before starting the installation.
1. spray bottle.
2. liquid dish soap.
3. small squeegee.
4. Exacto knife or razor blade.
5. Hair dryer or heat gun.
Fill the spray bottle with water and add 3-4 drops of liquid dish soap. Do not shake,
Shaking will cause the soap to foam.
Please read the entire instructions before beginning the
installation.
If you are unsure of any step of the installation process feel free to E-mail me and i'll do
my best to walk you through it.
PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME!!!
REMEMBER, Anything worth doing is worth a little extra time.
Step 1: clean the tail light lenses of any
dirt or debris. This is an important step, if the lenses have any debris it will show as a
bulge in the covers.
Step 2: carefully peel the protective
backing from the tail light covers.
Step 3: spray the tail lights and covers
with the pre-mixed solution of soap and water. Be sure not to leave any dry spots on the
lenses, Any dry spots will not allow you to slide the covers and will cause premature
adhesion.
Step 4: place the covers onto the tail
lights and position them so that all the cut-outs are within the tail light section. (note: be
sure to position the entire covers before you squeegee. DO NOT attempt to work your
way from one end of the tail light to the other, doing this will not allow the covers to line
up within the tail light section.) turn on the parking lights and brake lights to be sure there
are not any areas within the cut-outs that are dark. Be sure that all cut-outs are lite.for
93-94 base/SE/GT models, please see special enclosed instructions.
Special instructions for the 93-94 base/SE/GT.
When placing the covers onto the moistened tail lights be sure to turn on the parking
lights. Turning on the parking lights will allow you to see the natural lens reflection and will
prevent you from placing the brake light cut-out over too far into the parking light section.
Now, while the parking lights are on, place the covers over the lens so that only the first
two (smallest holes) are lit up. Be sure that the largest hole emits no light. Have someone
step on the brake pedal for you to be sure that the brake light is emitting through the
largest hole only. With only the parking lights on, you should see only the two smallest
holes lit up. With the brake pedal depressed all holes should light up. If any adjustments
need to be made do it now. Do not squeegee until the covers are placed to the above
mentioned specs.
proceed to Step 5:
Step 5: With the pre-mixed solution
spray the outside of the covers lightly to lubricate. This is so that the squeegee will slide
smoothly across the covers and to prevent scratching.
Step 6: Working from the center of the
covers out, squeegee any excess water and air bubbles from between the tail lights and
covers. This process may take some time, be patient. A hair dryer or similar heat source
is a must at this point in the installation. Using a heat source will soften the adhesive and
allow the vinyl to shrink. heat any stubborn areas that continue to bubble or wrinkle. DO
NOT BURN THE COVERS, It takes only a small amount of heat to soften the material
and adhesive. With the material softened, rub down the bubble or wrinkle with your
fingers until it lays flat. Continue using the heat source until all air bubbles or wrinkles are
flat.
Step 7: Once you are satisfied that all
bubbles or wrinkles are out, carefully push the edges of the covers down around the
edge of the tail lights. Doing this will prevent any light seepage around the edges. You may
want to use the heat source for this step as well. When you are satisfied that the edges are
covered ,trim off the excess with an exacto knife or razor blade. DO NOT use scissors,
scissors will only re-lift the covers.
Your installation is complete.
