Town of Faerlyn
Faerlyn is an elven sheep-ranching village of quiet splendor, nestled mostly on the northern banks of the Faer River. Its waters shimmer like starlight even at midday. The village lies at the edge of the Moonfen Forest, where veils of mist drift silently and wild cries echo across ancient boughs.
It serves as both a frontier outpost and a royal project, part of King Rhysanus's grand effort to restore Elven presence across the reclaimed lands of Jordaine.
Royal Sponsorship:
Faerlyn's flocks are sponsored by the Elven crown itself. Through King Rhysanus's vision, the town is granted protection, magical aid, and expert workers from Arethane. The wool harvested here is refined into cloaks for spellcasters and vestments for priesthoods. Though the Barony of the Vale claims nominal authority, real governance rests with Faerlyn's own Eldergrove Council.
The village's annual Wool Tithe Festival draws royal barges to its shore. These emissaries collect enchanted fleece, hear citizen petitions, and inspect the borderlands beyond the Faer.
Setting and Environment:
- To the South: the Faer River, pure and glimmering, fed by ley-charged springs.
- To the East and North: Moonfen Forest, home of fey spirits, ancient whispers, and shadowy beasts.
- To the North and West: the looming Lasse'Amon Mountains.
Strategic and Political Importance:
- Produces wool compatible with enchantments like Armor of Ithan and Invisibility.
- Serves as a northern watchpost for wild magic or forest incursions.
- Preserves rare Elven customs from the pre-Alaxus age.
Governance:
The Eldergrove Hall council, led by ranchers, craft-masters, and druids, makes most local decisions. However, authority ultimately lies with Mayor Taleira Moonsheen, a Silver Elf shepherd-matron who wields the Crown's sigil and ancient forest wisdom.
Magical and Cultural Features:
- The Faerlooms: Prophetic cloaks that hum under moonlight.
- The Moon-Ewe Rite: Once per decade, a white ewe is gifted to Moonfen to appease the spirits.
