September 18, 2001 Ice Dungeon
The 3
Musketeers were at it again. For those
of you who dont know, I am refering to Kronic, Conn and Ture.
Tonight
we decided to explore the Ice Dungeon and see what types of evil we could
vanquish there. (as it turns out not
much) We met at the House of Dawn as is
custom. I created the gate and off we
went, Ice dungeon entrance right before us, we checked our weapons (or spell
books as appropriate) and bravely entered the dungeon. We saved a nearly dead adventurer from a
Ratman Mage? (a big rat casting spells anyway)
We
proceeded deeper into the dungeon and fought a frost troll we taught it what it
means to hurt. We went further and got
assaulted by two Ice Elementals, two Giant Serpents of the ice variety and a
Frost Ogre Lord we made a hasty, organized retreat. We survived. Outside
again we decide this dungeon is too much for the three of us so we select
Covetous as our next victim. We
strolled through the harpies and headless ones, at one point we had at least
ten harpies screaming for our blood and I'm happy to say not a single one
escaped. As we went deeper into this
dungeon we encountered Gazers. (Big ugly floating eyes with tentacles as far as
I’m concerned.) We dispatched several
of these with little trouble but the blasted things like to poison that is
simply annoying. We ventured deeper and
discovered a passage that led outside following the path we met nothing along
the way.
We
proceeded boldly into the next cavernous entrance. Once inside we found more harpies and headless ones again the
vermin were vanquished with little effort.
We pressed ever deeper and found ourselves in a room with a small pond
on the west side there was a mage in trouble so I quickly cast heal and Conn
dispatched the Dread Spider that was causing the troubles. Almost immediately a Water Elemental
appeared followed by another Dread Spider.
The warriors fought and healed one another while I cast Energy Bolts and
Cured Poisoned fighters, the elementals and spiders kept coming one after
another barely time to breath between killing one and facing another. My head began to hurt and I was no longer
able to cast spells I had to resort to using my bow to defend myself and yet
the warriors fought on slaying the monstrosities so quickly and efficiently,
the Knights of Dawn should be most proud of these two, fighting side by side
healing one another dispatching monsters left and right until I lost
count. Then tragedy struck I was out of
Ginseng and could not heal anymore somehow the warriors lost each other in the
fray they were surrounded by at least three water elementals and two dread
spiders and couldn’t see each other to heal.
I was in the process of getting eaten alive by a Dread Spider when I saw
Conn fall I attempted to have Ture heal me while I gathered our fallen comrades
gear to return to him. I dispatched a
pigeon to Chryos The Bold but I was too late and the spider finished me off I
yelled at Ture "Get out come back healthy!". Unfortunately my words were cut off by my
death. Brave Ture fought on obeying
then code to not leave warriors on the field of battle he fended well for
himself considering the odds but his skills didn’t hold out against the horde
that set upon him and he too fell. I
was able to stay by my body in spirit and I watched in horror as someone looted
the corpse of brave Ture then to my astonishment she resurrected him and healed
him but when a dread spider set upon them she fled the field leaving Ture with
no armor or weapon to defend himself with and despite his great effort he was
again felled. Chryos came charging into
this charnal pit along with Duke Thraxus and his brave dragon Nova. They resurrected Ture and myself and we set
about the grisly task of gathering gear from my corpse and that of Conn once
that task was complete we returned to the house of dawn and set about getting
ourselves straightend out. Duke Thraxus
took us to his home and left us there. After a minute or two Conn rejoined us
and we reflected on what had gone wrong.
The three of us make a wonderful team and as
time goes we will only get better. My
thanks again to Chryos the Bold for his timely rescue, only he knows what
urgent business he left behind to help out his guildmates. To all a goodnight and until next time we
meet may your paths be safe.
