Large Party at the Temple

I was out hunting with LucyLu Long Fong another Mage/Bard.  Her barding skills are better than mine and she has more experience using those skills.  We went to Deceit and walked from the entrance to the Liche room we fought and killed many undead along the way and LucyLu was kind enough to show me some new ideas for spell combinations and interesting ways to use my newly discovered barding skills.  After fighting the Liches for a little bit a pigeon flew to me (marvelously trained birds these are) with note from Conn.

“Are you going to make it to the guild house tonight?”  I consulted with LucyLu and we decided that we would indeed make it to the guild house.  After dispatching one more Liche I created a gate we stepped through and I thought surely I must have used the wrong Rune for there were far too many people here for this to be the House of Dawn.

I looked around and took a quick roll call and found:

Ture, Conn, LucyLu, Aurora, and Michael, well maybe there weren’t that many people after all but certainly more than I’m accustomed to seeing in attendance at the hunt.

We had a few minutes of discussion during which Michael said he had heard that there was a temple on the Isle of the Avatar that was infested with Daemons and needed cleaning out to make it safer for those who live on that isle.

I searched through my collection of runes and found one that would get us close to that temple and I opened another gate.  (I wonder if the department of transportation pays well?)  We all stepped through the gate but Michael, I stepped back through to check on him and found him meditating or daydreaming so I waited until he regained consciousness then brought him to the isle as well.  We quickly caught up with the rest of the group, which had assembled on the platform in the center of the temple.  I hopped up on the altar and told the fighters “It is going to be hard to keep track of you all so be sure to stay in sight of the altar.” A good thing they did so because these monsters use poison like it’s a special treat.  I spent most of my time focusing on a fighter and chanting “Vas An Nox” (arch cure) but I was able to play my tambourine a little and tell one of these monsters how vicious the other monster was so they would fight one another and give our warriors a little breathing room.  At one point during this constant battle a man came up on the platform with not one but three drakes following him apparently he had convinced these drakes that they would be better served if they followed his lead he used them to clean off the platform then he disappeared again.  Thank goodness he did because I couldn’t see a thing with that massive mountain of muscle moving around.

I’m not sure how long we fought these creatures but they continued to flow onto the platform as if there were no end to their numbers.  I know we were there long enough for me to start running out of reagents and I had brought over 100 of each.  (That’s a lot of spell casting)

After fighting these beasts for what felt like hours we decided it was time to take a rest, so I looked around and saw that our entire crew was still in sight I stepped from the altar and yelled “GATES OPEN HERE LETS GO LETS GO” I stood my ground and actually pushed Conn and Ture through the gate they didn’t want to leave until everyone was gone.  How can everyone get through the gate if everyone wants to make sure everyone gets through it safely?  I stepped through the gate at the last second and took roll call.  “No Michael.”  I checked again and still no Michael I called his name and no answer I asked the others where he was no one knew.

Conn “Gate me back NOW”

While we were there I had marked a new rune for the altar itself and was already casting when Conn asked me to.  As soon as that gate opened up the entire party rushed back through and went on the search for Michael.  I made myself invisible and stood by the altar watching everyone to make sure no one got in trouble.  No one found Michael.  Then we get a pigeon telling us Michael is fine.  I spend the next few minutes getting everyone rounded up and back to the altar so I can gate us out. (Taxi service anyone?)

We reassembled at the guild house and talked a bit and bragged a bit and I looked around at the group and said “So how many of us died tonight?”

The answer was no one.  That’s right for the first time we have had a hunt with more than three people in which NO ONE died.

Our cast of characters were:

Conn, Knight of Dawn
