Sailor Moon is a typical shojo series about a girl and her friends who
are given special powers to transform and save the world. Its a lot like Power
Rangers, but, of course, Sailor Moon is quite a bit more interesting. Of course,
the "meatball head" main character Serena (Usagi in the Japanese version) powers
up to became Sailor Moon and is actually a lot like Fushugi Yuugi's Miaka.
Anyways, she falls in love with Darien (Mamoru), who happens to be her
star-crossed lover from her past life.
The show is for 12-year-old girls in Japan, but the American production
companies obviously didn't agree when they translated it into English. As a
result, they cut out or manipulated a lot of the storyline. I personally like
the Japanese version better because -- well, the story makes more sense, and . .
. well, its also interesting to compare the cultural differences between Japan
and the US regarding really touchy social topics.
