She pushed the branch out of her way, then recoiled with a slight, sharp gasp. Bringing the small cut to her lips she felt a slight twinge in her stomach. This is where he went to get away, this is where he spent most of his time. She knew that he was here, he hadn’t been home in two days, and she knew he was here.
She lowered her arm and continued her trek forward.
"Oh.." She gasped, quickly bringing her hands up to cover her mouth. The temple was gone, leveled as if the very earth had swallowed it up. "Father? Mikiah!" She shouted, running forward, her voice frail, lost in the wind.
"Niyah?" Mikiah looked up from his dark scrolls, from his blistered, bleeding hands. His daughter’s voice floated to his ears like the sound of salvation. "Niyah, oh please.." He stood shakily, minding his broken leg, and scanned the darkness. He was unable to escape his prison, but people needed to know what he now knew. The floor was littered with dirty, blood stained scrolls.
"Oh father..." Niyah moaned, falling to her knees atop the hill where the magnificent temple once stood.
"Niyah?!" She turned her head towards a small creek. That was his voice!
"Father?"
"Here, Niyah! Here!" She could barely contain a shriek of joy and fear as his hand suddenly shot up from the ground. Blistered, ink covered and bloodied. She stood and ran over, clasping his hand in both of hers.
"Oh father, we were so worried! We were-" The sun shifted, coming through the clouds. It crept over the debris, over Niyah, into the small crevice from which her father saw her.
Over his eyes.
Niyah shrieked, and leapt to her feet as the sun glinted viciously, evilly off her father’s eyes.
"Niyah..."

Something went wrong, and instead of ending, it started anew.
Two stones were created.
We don’t know how.
We don’t know why.
More importantly, we don’t know what they do.
What once was two, now is fourteen.
Will it end as it began?

Are you ready for it?
