Alone in a cage.
No key hole so to speak.
Flames burn all around,
The Rose, unscathed,
She walks toward me.
Waiting to see what's next.
I look away, ashamed.
Knowing I am not worthy
I feel nothing,
Nothing,
but love for this woman
My shame increases.
She turns away.
The flames come no closer.
But still I am trapped.
I whisper "I love you, more than life"
I wait for her return,
Night falls,
I sleep, unwillingly
"Goodnight, my love" I whisper, unafraid
The shadows take me.
Farewell,
The dawn shall not come,
Until I am freed by the Rose.
I know this,
And so do you.
