Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons are simply the greatest Gameboy games ever made. Even if you play them individually they're awesome, but if you play them together, they make for one of the greatest portable gaming experiences ever. They just have no competetion. Although they are in many ways alike, they are still totally different games. In Ages, the evil sorceress Veran has captured Nayru, and is using her to get into the past and change history for the worse. Ages focuses more on puzzle-solving than Seasons, but there are still alot of tough enemies. In OoS, Din is kidnapped by General Onox, and he's using her power to corrupt the seasons. I played Ages first, and I'm kind of glad that I did. Either way, you won't be disappointed.
The graphics are the best I've seen on the GBC, especially the cutscenes at the beginning and end. There isn't much detail to Link's character sprite, but is there really supposed to be? The graphics look the way they were meant to be, and they are a part of the games that make them what they are.
As in all of the Zelda games, the music is incredible. It's some of the only Gameboy music that is actually enjoyable to listen to. The classic theme song returns for the overworld, and every other song is good too. I like the music of Seasons just a little bit better, mostly because of the inclusion of The Song of Storms.
Many of the characters in Ages return from the N64 Zeldas, such as Tingle the map maker and the Happy Mask Salesman, but all of the characters in Seasons are new. Another thing Ages has that Seasons doesn't are Zoras! They actually look real this time, unlike the ones in Link's Awakening that looked like large mouth bass with legs. The new race, the Tokay, are pretty cool too, although not exactly as I expected them. They're pretty annoying the first time you meet them, but I don't want to spoil anything.
Like all Zelda games, the gameplay and controls are supurb, and alot of the new items are sweet. The replay value is good because of the new Link System, which works great and is a fun way to get secret items like the Master Sword and Mirror Shield. Starting a new game using the password you received after beating the other game results in some minor storyline changes as well. There really is no point in buying only one of these games. The ring collecting feature is similar to the masks of Majora's Mask. They give you special abilities, and you can try to collect them all (which isn't easy). The only way to get all of them is using the Link System with both games. Any Zelda fan (or any video game fan for that matter) should own this right now. If you're not, become one. The Zelda series has always been one of the greatest. These games continue the tradition.
