Original Question:
At the end of Se7en, Kevin Spacey tells Brad Pitt to shoot him and become wrath, and Brad complies. First, does this qualify as wrath, and why? And second, was this stupid on Spacey's part, or bloody brilliant? That one would depend on your answer to the first question, I bet. >;)

Response:
I don't believe that Brad Pitt actually became Wrath just by shooting Kevin Spacey. His action was out of anger due to the death of his wife, and so he sought revenge. In addition, Kevin Spacey provoked Brad Pitt to shoot him. Since Brad complied, then he was obeying Kevin's influence and so, showed a form of mercy in ending Kevin’s life, as well as weakness in allowing his rage to overtake him. If Brad were to become Wrath, than he would have let Kevin suffer more, perhaps ruined Kevin's life without simply killing him. Anyone can kill another because of his or her anger; so this is not wrath. Indeed, it puts the murdered out of the reach of the wrath of living beings. So was it brilliant on Kevin's part? No, for wrath wasn't entirely accomplished. Brad Pitt was not transformed, he was manipulated.

response from Daeva:

I certainly enjoyed Coug's concise answers, to gleefully steal a word from Nofre. I also favored her answer to my question more. I really think Brad's character was more impatient throughout the film than slowly evolving wrath. You know, he has no time for "stupid poetry-writing mother fuckers." >;)
