Born in
Gregminister, the capital of the Scarlet Moon Empire. He is the son of the great General Teo.
Teo was a stern man with a muscular build. He was often away in battle, so McDohl was left under
the care of Gremio, his attendent. Gremio was very protective of the child, he often thought of
McDohl as his own son. He fought off a hoard of bandits to protect McDohl while he was still
young, he is still left with a scar upon his cheek from that battle.Teo was very distant from
McDohl. Teo had one philosopy,
"Strength is the only truth. Nothing else is worth
believing in."
McDohl was often training to try and make his father proud. McDohl was a
carefree youth, and while he wasn't training he could be found outside playing with friends. He
only had a few true friends. His best friend was named Ted. Ted was orphaned at the town of
Gregminister, and General Teo took him in. Ted was like a brother to McDohl.
Ted was killed by
a sorceress named Windy, she wanted his power. Ted carried embedded within his right hand... the
Soul Eater rune. He gave McDohl the rune, and asked him to protect it, this was his final wish.
Before he died he said that in 300 years... McDohl was his only true friend.
The Cursed rune,
the rune that governs life and death, granted it's Master immortality. The one who held this
rune could not be ailed by sickness or disease, and he would never age. The Soul Eater protected
against natural causes of death... but such power comes with high cost. The Soul Eater steals
the souls from it's Master's closest friends. Ted's soul was taken by this rune.
McDohl was
upset with the corruption in the Scarlet Moon Empire, so he joined the Liberation Army. The
Liberation Army was led by Odessa Silverberg. She beilived that,
"You can't turn away
from what you see and what you feel. Because if you do that's a sin..."
Odessa was killed
during battle, and the Soul Eater took her soul as McDohl held her dying body within his arms.
Odessa left the leadership with McDohl, she said,
"No one has eyes like yours. Eyes that
draw people to you."
McDohl enlisted the help of the great strategist Mathiu Silverberg,
Odessa's brother. The Army was growing with McDohl's leadership. They won many battles. During
these great battles, Gremio sacrificied his life to protect McDohl. Gremio said to McDohl as he
died,
"Promise me you'll always follow your heart."
The Soul Eater caused McDohl
many pains.
General Teo was a very stubborn man. He stayed loyal to the Scarlet Moon Empire,
and eventually McDohl had to face him. His father forced him into a battle to the death. McDohl
defeated his father, and his heart cried out. As his father died, he said,
"The greatest
happiness... a father can experience... is to see his son... surpass himself."
His father
smiled, maybe for the first time, and he was very peaceful as he passed away. McDohl knew that
his father truly loved him.
McDohl gained followers to help him destroy the Scarlet Moon
Empire. These people... all gathered together... and their hearts brought about the Gathering of
the Stars. As the stars gathered, Gremio was resurrected from their power. McDohl once again
felt joy, as his loyal friend was brought back to life.
McDohl and Gremio's souls are
intertwined... they have a strong bond between them. Gremio is now also cursed and blessed by
the power of the Soul Eater... because his soul is still connected to it, as is McDohl's
soul.
McDohl defeated the Scarlet Moon Empire, and brought peace to the land. He created the
Toran Republic. He left the land and again set out for travel with Gremio. He left because he
feared that if he stayed, he would get attached... and more pain and suffering would occur.
Therefore, he and Gremio journey along aimlessly into the night.
McDohl... although only the
age of 17, he has learned many things. He is wise beyond his years... he has the wisdom of his
father.
