DESCRIPTION/APPEARANCE: Varies. He is a Castrati; generally impersonates a woman (and can get away with it!). Hair color is auburn. Eyes are dark brown. Height is 5'11". The Castrati tended to grow unusually tall for their time period. He is long limbed with long fingered hands. Maggie falls stereotypically into the role of the Italian who speaks with her hands. His sire once held his hands still and he couldn't complete a sentence the whole time.
PERSONALITY: Maggie is pretty over the top, flamboyant, and deliberately outrageous. This very flamboyance can lull someone into thinking Maggie is of no consequence. However 'she' has shown herself to be witty and intelligent when she wants to be. Marcus himself is very shy, seldom seen, and reclusive when not in Maggie persona.
WEAKNESSES/STRENGTHS: A diva in opera, 'Maggie’s' vampiric talents lie in h is voice. He can use it as a weapon. Break glass, statues, vases, eardrums, even slice through skin, though not deeply. Or use it to seduce, calm, even give the allusion of different tactile sensations, like a hand caressing skin, or silk, or fur... Other powers are typical of vampires: enhanced speed, strength, mesmerize/hypnotize, roll minds...flying (though she doesn’t like heights and won’t go above two stories if she can help it). Weaknesses are sunlight (though she is beginning to show an ability to stay awake past dawn, it is indoors protected from light); fire; silver; typical vampire things. And her true self, Marcus, who rarely makes an appearance, but hides beneath the facade of Maggie. Animal to call is the shark. She's totally disgusted by this.
HISTORY: Maggie (real name was Marcus) was born 1707 during the time of the use of Castrati for the parts of female opera singers. He was 21 (he's been a vampire 160 years) when he was turned into a vampire. He continued in opera for a while before disappearing and resurfacing off and on through history, usually in some form of entertainment, including returning to opera several times, generally as a woman. Maggie is one of the few vampires Lee considers a friend. She has shown herself to be useful in conflicts within the vampire community as well as being a wealth of information from circles Lee doesn't have direct access to. Maggie is currently back in opera after a 20 year hiatus. She is traveling as the daughter of the late Lady Critelli, a renowned diva of the opera in her day. Her sire, Ricardo, accompanies her as her manager.
