Name: Éowyn, White Lady of Rohan
Race/Gender: Female human
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual, but not all that interested, thank you very much.
Age: 22 - born in the year 2995 of the Third Age, to Éomund of Eastfold and the Lady Théodwyn of Rohan. Niece of Théoden - King of Rohan, and younger sister of Éomer - Third Marshall of Riddermark.
Physical Description: A tall blonde; proud and fair, yet stern and appearing somewhat cold. "A maiden of the Rohirrim, child of kings, slender but as a steel-blade, fair yet terrible" ('Battle of the Pelennor Fields', RoTK).
Weapons of Choice: Sword and shield.
History: Éowyn was only seven years old when she and her brother were adopted by their uncle, King Théoden, after her father was killed in battle and her mother died soon after of illness.
Growing up at Edoras, Éowyn was close to her Uncle and to her grief watched him fall into an early old age. When she was very young, the two young Princes of Gondor -Boromir & Faramir- were brought to the Golden Hall for a summer, thus beginning life-long friendships between the children of the ruling Houses of Gondor & Rohan.
She was raised with her brother and cousin, training with them in warrior-craft to become a fearless Shieldmaiden - an outdated, but proud tradition of Rohirrim female warriors. And yet, while Éomer and the men attempt to keep Rohan's borders safe, she remains (not exactly of her own chosing) in the Golden Hall to nurse her uncle.
A graceful, beautiful woman, she is greatly desired by Théoden's advisor Gríma Wormtongue - whom she senses evil in, and is both disgusted by him, and afraid of him.
Rohan is reluctant to enter the War of the Ring one way or another, even though Gondor, traditional ally of Rohan, could certainly use their help and the Orcs at their borders grow bolder...
Relationships: Éowyn is fiercely loyal and devoted to her family and the few people she calls 'friend'. She has yet to fall in love.
Objective: "She has these ideals of courage and honor, but she's surrounded by war and death--and nothing's going right. She's dying to prove she's made of as good a mettle as the men--or better." (Miranda Otto) Éowyn is disgusted by the fact that nothing is being done to aid Gondor or to take a firm stand against the agents of the Enemy that constantly trespass in Rohan - and she can't do anything about it.
