The first step is "instability." After the movement has progressed (as described above) for one month, the illusionist will begin to lose his/her molecular stability. Every couple of minutes, he/she will phase in and out, seeming to shimmer. This effect is often quite painful, and easily disrupts the illusionist’s concentration.
The second step is "lightheadedness." After the movement has progressed for two months, the illusionist will begin to experience bouts of forgetfulness and/or the ability to concentrate. This can be extremely detrimental to Sith magic of any kind. The effect described above continues along with this one.
The third step is "intangibility." After the movement has progressed for three months, the illusionist loses all tangibility, i.e. he cannot be touched or touch anything else. This would seem to be deadly, but in this state, he/she requires no sustenance and can float instead of walk. These powers signify the illusionist’s move away from life. Lightheadedness continues at this state.
The fourth step is "insanity." After the movement has progressed for four months, the illusionist actually loses his/her mind and becomes completely and utterly insane. Nothing he/she says makes any sense, as fantasy and reality have become one to him/her. Intangibility continues at this state.
The final step is "fading from existence," and it occurs one month after the state of insanity (no spell casting, which is impossible, is needed). It is an extremely painful process, and it is completely final. No afterlife is experienced; the illusionist just ceases to exist.
This scroll exists in this book as a warning to those who would delve too deep into illusionary magic lest you fall prey to its fantastical powers.
