Hall's Lounge (#8801)
The scent of klah and book pages pervades the air in this room, and those two things do seem to be of prime importance here. Several tables with chairs are scattered towards one side, and books are heaped atop them. On the other side stands a table holding a pitcher of klah, a bowl of fresh fruit, and a smal glow basket. An assortment of mismatched, aged, comfy looking couches occupy the space between the tables. The rough walls are painted with designs o dolphins, fish, and ships, reflecting the nature of those that gather here All together, the lounge exudes an atmosphere of coziness and tranquility Appropriate, as it is most often used as a place for studying or relaxing wit friends. Many of the important rooms can also be reached from this area: To the east lies the journeymen and masters hall, to the north are the baths, an to the northeast and southeast are the mens and womens dorms respectively.
To the southeast, you see one person.
On the perch are Claire and Elianor.
You notice Deedlit, Hilaria, Teleri, Kielyn, Hallana, and Caitilin asleep here.
Obvious exits:
Staff Hall Men's Dorms Baths Ledge Women's Dorm Rooms
Chandra is reclining back in one of the many chairs, a mug of steaming klah at her elbow and a rather noticeable pile of busy work set upon the ground on the opposite side.
Dejah walks into the lounge looking a bit tired and all, she looks slightly a bit wet possibly from being out in her skiff, her hair clings to the sides of her face as she looks around for a chair to sit in and finds one and just slumps into it.
Auren comes in with a tray of food and moves over to Dejah, "All right, I got greens, meatrolls, and some hot juice, just like the healer said you should eat." He grins, "And a hot bubbly for afterwards."
Dejah looks to Auren with a bit of shock as she sees the tray of food, some ways she isn't feeling so great..."Um I don't think I can eat all that right now..."
Jasla stalks in from the Women's Dorms.
Auren frowns, "Dejah, you have to keep your strength up, could you have just one meatroll and a sip of your juice for me." He gives her a sweet smile.
Chandra blinks up at the sight of the newly handfasted pair. She arches her eyebrows at the sight of them, but keeps her peace for the time being. As another person enters into the area, the Master's head turns to regard Jasla, "Ahhhh, just the young woman I was hoping to see."
Jasla walks out of the dorms humming to herself while idly playing with a piece of string between her fingers. Seeing the three other occupants of the lounge, she smiles. "Greetings Master Chandra, and Journeyman Dejah and...." She trails off, not knowing the third. Hearing her name, she looks to Chandra. "You do?" She asks, wondering if she should be worried.
Dejah smiles to Auren, "Ok, I'm just tired, took the skiff out for her first time and taught Jasla and Rhylar about basics of sailing and it just tired me out some much love." She takes a meatroll and seems to turn her nose up at the thought of hot juice. "Could you get me some cold juice please?"
"Certainly." Chandra wriggles a finger to Jasla as her other hand blindly reaches for her mug of klah. "We need to discuss your position in the craft... and...." Her gaze flickers back to a certain journeywoman, "...and Dejah will also be discussing it with you. Dejah? A moment please."
Auren nods and sets the tray down so that Dejah can pick through it for a moment, "Of course dear." He moves down to the kitchens.
Jasla takes a few steps closer, the string in her hands forgotten as she peers at the two with narrowed eyes. "Okay..sure." Still uncertain, she sits on a couch, keeping her posture erect. "Ah, I hope it's not bad..." She says slowly.
Dejah nods quietly as her name is mentioned as Chandra looks over at her. She looks at the meatroll and lets out a sigh as she takes a nibble and gets up leaving the chair where she was seated she moves over to where Chandra and Jasla are and just waits.
Chandra ducks her hand into her pocket, reaching over to transfer whatever it was over to Dejah. "One of the rolls as a ranking member of my crew is that of being a leader. Often, leaders are forced to do things that they take no pleasure in, so they foist it off on their firsts or seconds. They also ask them to discharge duties. I'm going to ask Dejah to discharge this duty for me."
Auren comes back with the cup of cold juice and waaits for the seacraft buisnes to be over before he approaches.
Dejah takes whatever Chandra handed her firmly in her hand and listens to Chandra speak and is a bit confused for a moment, of course she is a bit tired and nods to confirm she is listening to the duties and is shocked when Chandra asks her to do whatever duty she is supposed to perform.
Jasla nods slowly, watching Chandra closely as something is brought out of her pocket. Her grey eyes follow whatever it was to Dejah. 'What was that?' She thinks to herself. She glances at the journeyman hoping to see some give away, but no clues are given there. Sighing, she looks at Chandra and almost smiles, "I understand." She says to her.
Chandra turns a warm grin onto Dejah, bobbing her head in a clear indication t go ahead and do whatever. She sips from her klah, gaze flickering over to notice Auren. The Master lifts her chin in greeting to him, then she looks back to the others, "Go ahead, Dejah." Her eyes go critical though, as if she is calculating just how Dejah does this.
Auren nods back to Chandra as he watches Dejah and the other woman.
Dejah looks quietly to what is apparently and her hand and turns to Jasla taking a deep breath...it seems that whatever Dejah is going to do she's going to make it as suspenseful as possible for Jasla but in a good way. She smiles. "Well Jasla, it is my honor and pleasure to reward your hard work and skills during your time as an apprentice and a crew member on the DragonWing to show appreciation on behalf of Captain Chandra as well as myself and the crew of the DragonWing for the effort you have put into the craft. You are no longer an apprentice Jasla..." She gives a slight pause before continuing, "Please accept this knot as a symbol of your new rank and duties in the Seacraft, Able-Bodied Apprentice Jasla." She offers the knot to Jasla with a smile.
Jasla laughs as her mouth drops open in amazement. "Oh" She says to herself, which is repeated louder. "Oh!!" She seems to be speechless, so she just laughs. She takes the offered knot with a bigger grin than that she had when she was sailing earlier in the day. "Thankyou, very much!" She looks down at the knot and back up at the master and journeyman to thank them profusedly.
Chandra bobs her head with authority, her critical gaze smoothing to something far more warm. "Congratulations, Able-Bodied apprentice Jasla. Wear that knot with pride. You have indeed earned it." She chuckles at the young woman's obvious enjoyment of the promotion, before glancing askance to Dejah.
Dejah notices Chandra looking over to her and she herself looks over to Auren with a smile. "Auren, mind getting some juice or wine if Master Chandra prefers to celebrate Jasla's promotion?" Of course she is curious as to Chandra's glance over to her.
Auren gives a smile to Jasla as he moves over Dejah and hands her the cup of cold juice, "Congratulations Able-body Jasla." He nods, "Sure. There is some nice Benden red." Auren moves to got get it.
Chandra chuckles faintly, "No, I've my klah. All I need is my klah." Chandra lives on klah. Just ask her what happened when they had that shortage all those turns back. She fixed it all on her own, thank you very much. "And seeing as Dejah conducted her duties with great... aplomb, we'll see what she can do as my new first mate..."
Jasla gazes at the knot in her hands. "Oooh. And I was expecting something bad!" She laughs as she looks back up. Smiling, she listens to Chandra as she speaks. "Oooh, Journeyman Dejah!! Congratulations!" This /is/ turning out to be a great day.
Dejah smiles to her husband as she takes the glass of cold juice and sips it quietly as Auren congratulates the newly promoted young female crewmember. She sighs as she looks and hopes that Auren had actually put crackers or something on the tray as she is needing them. "Master Chandra, I hope you received the hide that I sent over with Naya that was from the Ista Hold healer." She listens to Chandra and stands a bit stunned as her mentor and Captain's words slowly sink in that she had just been promoted. "Um...I don't know what else to say Master Chandra but thank you. I hope I do you proud. I guess I should share mine and Auren's news with everyone here...Auren and I are expecting our first child."
Auren comes back with the wine as he hears Dejah and smiles as he moves over to her and gives her a hug, "Yep, we are going to be parents."
Dejah hugs Auren with a smile. "It's been an interesting sevenday none the less I'd say." She looks over to Chandra with a smile. She takes another sip of the redfruit juice and excuses herself to sit down. "I need to sit down if you all don't mind."
Auren nods, "Yes yes sit down." He pours himself a glass of wine, "Would you like a glass Jasla?"
Thalassina walks on legs much more used to the rolling seas than firm land in from the Dolphineer's Ledge.
Chandra arches her eyebrows at the news, glancing to Auren with quite the accusing stare, "My, haven't we been a couple of busy people. Getting my new First Mate pregnant, Auren? That is quick work." But she softens her words with a slow smile, "Congratulations." She glances askance to Jasla, chuckling, "We tend to make everyone think its something bad before they get promoted. It is like a ritual before becoming Able-Bodied."
Auren blushes a little and nods, "Well she was your second mate at the time. In all fairness."
Jasla looks up at Auren. "Ah, just a small one, please." She says to him, still grinning. "It's Auren, isn't it?" She turns back to Chandra. "Yes, you sure had me in suspense, Master Chandra." She laughs, leaning back into the couch now that she can relax.
Auren nods and pours her a small glass, "Yes it is. Here you go." He holds out a glass of wine.
Dejah laughs with a smile to Chandra as she congratulates them both. With a laugh she looks over to Jasla and smiles, "She seems to do the same to me all the time as well."
Unfortunately, Chani seems to be all out of knots at the moment, "You'll have to see the headwoman about getting yourself a new knot, Dejah. I believe that Jasla took my last one... and I don't think you'd like one that would show a demotion, instead of a promotion." She takes another long sip of her drink, smiles to Jasla, "That knot basically means you don't have to do quite so much fish cleaning and hull scraping as the others."
Thalassina slips into the lounge, a three year old clinging to one side being hefted up much like a roll of rope. "G'day folks!" She chimes in, the kid at her side giving a small grunt in hello as well.
Dejah laughs with a smile to Chandra and nods quietly. "Ok Master Chandra." She looks over and smiles as she sees Thalassina and waves to her, "Hey Thalassina, haven't taken off to Tillek yet I see? I hope the seas fair well for your journey to Tillek."
Jasla takes the offered glass thankfully. "Just when I get used to the fish and scraping hulls! But I am sure it's somthing that I won't miss doing everyday." She says with a laugh. She smiles up at the new arrival before taking a sip from her glass.
Auren takes a sip of his wine as he watches all the conversations around him. He smiles and gently kisses Dejah, "Congrats love."
Dejah smiles and returns Auren's kiss. "Well we have a lot to celebrate Auren my dear. Seems today is a day for a lot of celebrations."
Chandra chuckles to Jasla before perking up as Thala enters. Her head cocks to the side as she takes a final sip of her klah, "Good day, Thalassina. How are you doing?"
Auren gently rubs Dejah's belly and nods, "Indeed it is." He nods to the new arrival.
Dejah looks to Auren with a smile as he rubs her stomach. "Dear you might not want to do that too much, not feeling too well right now."
Thalassina sets the kid down who quickly toddles over to the bowl of fruit and grabs a piece. "I have been doing great, we're set to leave for Tillek later today, just picking up a few last minute things here before we go. I got a new starcrafter that needs a few ship supplies."
Auren nods and moves his hand away, "Do you want me to get you something for your stomach?" He looks at Dejah concerned.
Dejah looks to Auren with a faint smile. "Some crackers would be good."
Chandra nods her head. "Good. I'm glad I'm catching you before you set out." The Master glances askance at the toddler, her smile growing. With a blink, she glances back up to Thala, "I've got one more thing for you to pick up though before you head out."
Auren stands up and moves to get his wife some crackers. He comes back with a small bowl of them and holds them out to her.
Thalassina sets the rucksack that had been over her shoulder down by the wall and grabs a piece of fruit for herself. "Oh?" she asks curiously a perplexed look on her face, obviously trying to figure out what it could be.
Chandra nods her head. "In my office, I've got some hides that need to be taken up to the Master." Not that he'll actually look at them or anything, but quarterly reports must be made. "Be sure to stop in there before you go."
Thalassina bobs her head as she flops down at a chair near one of the walls. "Certianly, any other messages to be delivered up north that anyone wants me to take?"
Dejah looks over to Thalassina and shakes her head. "Nothing unless you want to be going spreading the news of mine and Auren's news...but not like it's that important."
Jasla goes home.
Auren nods, "Yes spread that news, I want everyone to know about Dejah's and mine first child."
Dejah laughs with a teasing smirk. "Oh and not the fact that we are husband and wife?"
Auren thinks about it and nods, "That would be good too."
Thalassina smiles and givevs them both a nod "Congrats, sounds like wonderful news, I'll be sure to tell those up north about it. Have you picked out a name yet?"
Dejah laughs to Thalassina with a smile. "I have no clue really...we haven't discussed one yet. I only found out a couple of days after our handfasting that I was pregnant. Of course now Master Chandra has to deal with her new first mate pregnant and her husband."
Chandra glances askance to Dejah before looking back to Thalassina, "No. But you you be going back to Tillek differently this time. In that busywork will be at least one hide concerning you, and the fact that I am promoting you to a full master." She takes a step closer to Thala, hand extended in congratulation, "You have more than earned it, Thalassina."
Auren nods, "Yes we haven't talked about a name." He smiles at Thalassina and raises his glass, "Congrats."
Dejah looks over to Thalassina and smiles. "Well congratulations to you as well Master Thalassina."
Thalassina blinks a moment and then grins widely, which quickly turns into a panicked mothers face as she bounces up to catch the toddler heading out the door and guide him back inside near her chair. "Wow, thank you Chandra." She shakes her hand and gives her a hug "I will do my best to make a good master."
Chandra chuckles faintly, giving Thala a hug right on back, "It was my pleasure... and a very long time coming. I have a feeling that you should have been promoted many turns earlier." She leans back, "When you go to my office for those hide, be sure to scrounge around in the desk, there should be a master's knot in there somewhere."
Thalassina nods as she scoops the kid up into her lap and sits back down "I will be sure to do that Ma'am"
Chandra smiles onto Thala, "I'm sure it will surprise quite a few of the old Masters up to Tillek to see you sporting a new knot." She starts for the door, "Congratulations... use that knot well.
