Climate and Geography
*The overall climate of Sparkling Creek Valley varies a bit from place to place during a season. Mountainous places, like the Croal and Ochotona Mountains are colder than other places during any given time. The warmest climates can be found in places like the Sedge Creek territory, the Woodland Farm, and Galar's Marsh. During the winter, temperatures below freezing are still common in these places as well, but they do warm up quicker during the spring and reach a much hotter temperature during the summer months.
* Sparkling Creek Valley isn't set in any given spot in the world, and all the places in it are made up (but realistic). It contains many geographic features, from mountains, eskers, rivers, lakes, bogs, geysers, and more. It doesn't, how ever, include any hot deserts, other arid regions, or rain forests. The hottest climates in Sparkling Creek Valley get no hotter than an average deciduous forest or prairie. For this reason, Ethiopean and Mexican wolves, as well as short-furred dogs/hybrids cannot survive in Sparkling Creek Valley on a long term basis.
Attitude
*While you are IC, you can have any attitude you want. You can have the sweetest temperment or the most devilish and out-right insane or cruel attitude.
*Please don't take offense from anyone's IC attitude! If someone's character is being overly harsh and malicious to your character, don't take if personally. This is just a game.
* I will not allow any harsh or negative talking OOC on any of my boards. If you have a problem with someone, settle it in a civic manner. I'd prefere that you take your disputes to the OOC board, or, even better, through E-mail. If needed, I will step in and settle disputes. This is one of the biggest 'rules' I have. If a potential member passes by the site and sees any OOC fighting, it can very well discourage them from joining.
Caches
Dens
Territories
Fighting * There is no powerplaying allowed. On my site, I consider powerplaying to be saying you've done damage to another character before they have a chance to reply. An example:
*Another form of powerplay is where you do end up with a hold on another character, and you say just what damage you cause. An example of this would be--
* The last form of powerplay is commonly known as 'God Moding'. That is were a character evades pretty much all attacks during a fight, or is fighting their strongest with severe injuries.
* During fights with many characters, things can get confusing. I will step in and announce the 'Damage Report' now and then during the fight if it's needed. It will state just who is attacking who and what damage everyone has recieved. I will also step into fights with a 'Damage Report' when powerplaying arrises.
Pack Life
Typing & Such Common Rpg Terms
A cache is food buried by wolves to use for later. Each territory has a message board where they can keep all of their caches.
* You can burry food places anywhere you want, even if it's not on your packs Cache message board, just remember where you put it.
* You can't just magically say you've gotten some food and buried it, the food must come from an animal that you've hunted (or anyother way you can get food)
* You can't just say *Digs up food from a cache and eats it* you need to go back and find the post where you buried the food, and reply to that, saying you've dug up and eatten the food. If you can't find the post, then it's just like losing the food buried in it. In the wild, scavengers will steal from wolf caches, so don't be upset if you lose some food.
The den site is completely up to the mother! If she doesn't like the current den site, she is allowed to make her own den (just email me the URL if you make a new den). You'll keep the old one though, You just don't have to use it.
* Remember the dens are small; wolves like the closeness. You can't fit many adults into the den (not that the mother would probably aprove of it anyway)
* The alphas are allowed to add more places in their territory. If you want to do that, create the message boards and give me the URL and your pack name so I can put them up! Of course, I have to approve of the new board, and it much go with the physical features of the territory. (ex:
* Having more message boards for your territoy doesn't make it bigger, it's simply defining places within the territory. If you want to make your territory larger, you will have to claim another one that boarders your current territory.
*Fighting IC can accure anywhere, anytime, and between anyone. The fights don't have to be fair (ex: three vs one) But there are some rules to keep in mind.
Rex sneaks up and tackles Abby, then sinks his fangs into her leg.
How does Rex know that Abby hadn't heard him sneak up? This post is assuming that Abby isn't moving and nollifies any attempt she makes to defend herself or get away. An acceptable post would be -
Rex sneaks up on Abby and tries to tackle her and snap his jaws shut around her leg.
This allows Abby time to react.
(lets say Rex has a hold on Abby's leg now)Rex bites down hard until he crushes the bones between his jaws.
While I don't doubt Rex is perfectly capable of breaking the leg bone, Abby just isn't sitting back an letting him do it. With a major injury like a broken bone, it's up to the character recieving damage to say what happens.
* The No Wolf Zones are really 'buffer zones' inbetween territories; it's land that no pack owns. They are areas were two packs can communicate and what-not. It is also a good place for any lone wolf to seek acceptance into a pack.
*The Central Pack Lands, as well as the other boards within a pack, are not free land for lone wolves to wonder around in, even if they are wanting to join the pack. Although it is up to the alphas to decided what to do with a trespassing wolf, most wolves would chase off and possibly kill a wolf who has intruded into their lands.
* Many Rpg sites set rules about how you should write your posts. Some say you must post at least a paragraph in length, or that you can't use certain words (examples: 'is for his, th' for the, 'e for he, plume for tail, femme for female, and so on) Personally, I think that sort of defeats the purpose of an Rpg; to be fun and creative. How fun is it to be told how to write and what you can and can't do to express yourself? While I'd appriciate everyone making a decent attempt at a post, I doesn't matter to me one way or the other how you post or how long it is.
