Game Instructions and Rules

Instructions

The bot will randomly pick questions from its file and ask them. You may answer simply by saying your answer in the channel. The bot gives you *some* leeway with regards to spelling errors, but it's not human and can't always understand what you mean if you don't say it in the way it's expecting. The answers to all questions that ask for a number of three digits or less are written out as words - One, not 1. (but 500000 will still be a number)

Hints are automatically given out by the bot at 30 and 60 seconds. !hint and !!hint do not work so don't bother trying to use them. After 80 seconds, if nobody has answered the question the answer will be revealed and the next question will be asked.

If someone does get the correct answer within the allotted time, they will receive points. You receive 3 points for answering before any hints, 2 points for answering after the first hint and 1 point for answering after both hints.

Only the official rounds (of which there is currently about one a week) count for the online high scores. Repeat rounds are scored for that round only.

At any time you may enter !repeat to have the question repeated or !top10 to see the current top 10 scorers.

Rules

The number one rule is: don't cheat. If you're showing up to watch a repeat session after you already saw all the questions, don't butt in with your memorised answers every time, don't tell the other players the answer and don't give them hints. Depending on the severity, you will generally get warnings, then kickings, then a temporary ban. Similarly, don't answer or give away the answers or hints to any questions you wrote.

Standard rules of IRC conduct apply here. Don't flood, don't be too offensive, don't be otherwise annoying.

Don't complain about the questions you get. I have about the same amount of questions for all the games that I can cover (that doesn't apply to games which I've only got submitted questions for, however), so it's pretty much luck of the draw which you get and there's little point in complaining about that. If you're upset I don't have any questions for a game you like, write some - I can only fill in questions up to the maximum for a certain list of games that I know enough about.

People don't seem to get this rule, so I'll emphasise: DON'T WHINE. I spend several hours to write the questions and the same or more to host the game, without expecting anything in return, and yet I get people complaining as if they paid money to play. If you don't like the questions, either shut up or go away. From now on, I will kick and possibly ban whiners.
