USF-015 Rapier is the culmination of project “Blade”. Apex Electronics used there technological capabilities to combine the Saber into the Foil and boosted the armor and armament considerably. It also has been redesigned to be more functional, needing less maintenance then the Saber. Armed with a beam shield and the Sabers high output beam rifle, twin beam sabers, leg stowed missile pods, and arm mounted machine guns, the Rapier packs a mean punch that may not be to devastating on the outside, but it could easily go toe to toe with almost every unit the ISG has to offer. But what sets the Rapier apart is the component Quick Silver Corp. produced for it. Quick Silver came through long ahead of time on a hyper compact tunnel system. With this the Rapier need only be bombarded with minerva particles to travel through tunnels to anywhere in the Sol system. Dowsed in minerva particles before the battle, the Rapier can dive in and out of tunnels so fast it is almost teleporting. This allows it to skip around the battle field and reek damage on enemy units. Also, it need not be weighed down by drop tanks, it can simply tunnel into the combat zone. The Rapier more then makes up for its price, nearly double the Sabers, by being the solar systems first unit that can pop up anywhere and take you out before you know it.
NOTE: Tunnel systems cannot work inside an atmosphere.
