Forgotten Legacy Review 1

Psygon reviews "Forgotten Legacy" by Magikoopa --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My first review Anyway, this game is really cool, and you should play it. On with the review!

Chosen graphics: (4/5 points) There was a nice mix of rips and the now-popular Mac and Blue in the chipsets. The facesets were a mix of the work of Roco and Mac and Blue. The charsets were mostly Mac and Blue Magikoopa probably really likes Mac and Blue, which is good for him, because I like them too. The only thing about the graphics he chose is the Chrono Trigger world map chipset. It was very ugly.

Graphical usage: (8/10 points) A lot of the maps were pretty bare, but most of them were nicely done. Nothing looked extremely odd.

Music: (9/10 points) The music ALWAYS matched what was going on, and I LOVED the battle music. However, a lot of the music was from recognizable games (I noticed a lot of Chrono music) so I deducted a point.

Story: (12/15 points) You were a guy named Mekora and you had to travel around the world with your friend, and stop terrorists and stuff. It was slightly cliche, but it was nicely done.

Spelling, grammar, and dialogue: (10/10 points) I didn't notice many spelling or grammar errors at all. The people had humorous dialogue, and I LOVED the part when they were judging Melville's work, and they were hypnotized.

Custom features, programming, and bugs: (12/15 points) There weren't many custom features at all. There WAS a little menu, like I have in Kyrent 2, but there really wasn't anything useful you could do with it, and it was made with the "show choice" command. I didn't notice any bugs, which is a major plus. Oh yeah, and there was a dueling system, but it seemed WAY too much like the LS3 duel system.

Balance and difficulty: (8/10 points) The monsters did an appropriate amount of damage to you, and vice versa. The boss battles were of a nice length, and Forgotten Legacy had a good difficulty level. The one complaint I had was that in the first mountain, I found the group of six or so "bugs" a LOT and they took a LONG time to defeat. Also, the duels were too easy.

Fun factor: (24/25 points) It was pretty entertaining. There were no MAJOR flaws, and the characters had good dialogue. Magikoopa has obviously put a lot of work into this game.

OVERALL: 87/100

87% = B = good

This game is worth playing. Download it.

GRADING SCALE:

90%-100% = A = Excellent. A must-play game.

80%-89% = B = Good. Worth a try. You may like it a lot. 70%-79% = C = Decent. You might like it, you might not.

60%-69% = D = Bad. The author needs to spend more time on this game.

59% and below = F = Horrible. The author should ditch this and try again.

I'll also have a link to another review by Chickensuopcheese once he corrects some mix-ups in it, so you can know as much about the game as possible.
