The
most often appearing kind of jinn is the genie in the lamp. A magical being
trapped there by a higher power, it is a genie's curse to be the servant of
whoever finds the lamp, and to grant them wishes. There seem to be few kindly
jinn; most are bitter and scheming. Often the master's downfall and ruin come
from the wishes that he or she makes. Unless the wishes are made without thought
of personal gain, there is often a catch that comes back to destroy the wisher.
