History: Mercedes has led an interesting life. The eldest of the Buchanan siblings, Mercedes married young after getting pregnant. She didn’t love her husband, and soon after she miscarried their child, he asked for a divorce. Her one and only love, has, and always will be Declan Litrell. Though she cared for her younger sister Sydney, she could not deny her feelings, and started having an affair with Declan. She truly believed that the wedding between he and her sister would be called off, and in turn, the two of them would wed. Those dreams were however shattered when the wedding finally went ahead, and soon after, Mercedes moved away from Los Angeles. She could not stay away for long however, and not long after the birth of the twins, she returned to the only place she had ever called home.

Mercedes was quick to work out the the twins were not Declan’s, and not long after Sydney said as much to her, she returned to Declan’s bed, feeling less guilt about the affair knowing what Sydney had done. For several years, everything was bliss. Mercedes had Declan in every why shape and form, except as a husband. When she discovered she was pregnant, things changed. What was even worse still, was the discovery that Sydney was also pregnant, and the father (according to her) was without a doubt Declan. Distraught, Mercedes called things off between herself and Declan. She told him that she was pregnant, but he was not the father. She told him she did not, and never would love him, and she began to completely withdraw from the Litrell family.

Things were never the same between Declan and Mercedes, and Declan’s very recent marriage to 25 year old Morgan has renewed a fury inside Mercedes. She now looks back, and has begun to ask questions, the most important one, whether Sydney’s death was in fact an accident, or, whether Declan did have a hand in the whole ordeal. She lives now for her son Tyler, trying to make him as different to his real father as she can. Mercedes only real connection with the Litrell family, is her position on the board of Nova FM. A position that she took up after the death of her sister.
