Many, many Turns later...

...over which the valorous history of Pern was reduced to merely legends and old stories to delight the children, a baby girl was born. Her mother, one of the few that believed the stories of old Pern, saw in her the hope of the future, and so named her Raja, which means 'hope'. The mother died shortly after, and the girl was left with only her father to raise her, a rough man who was more accustomed to the wilds of the Southern Continent, where he caught and sold wild herdbeasts, than to the civilized North. Raja was a quick learner, and soon decided it was best to stay out of his way as much as possible: she became a shadow that grew from a young girl to a woman of seventeen Turns. Then, one fateful day, Raja came across the bloodied carcass of a Gold dragon, and just a little further on, her Clutch of eggs. Only one was left, a large one with a shell of pure gold. As she watched, one crack, then two, appeared on the side of the egg, more and more appearing faster and faster, until out came a wet, sticky, golden...thing. The thing, which Raja realized must be a baby dragon, approached, and said to her 'I am Kyrath.' Thus, for the first time in nigh on three hundred Turns, a human had Impressed a dragon. It happened none too soon, for a comet had recently knocked the dreaded Red Star back into orbit around Pern...this time one that would bring it close enough to Pern for Thread to fall every seventh turn. Determined to save the world they knew and loved, Raja and Kyrath re-opened the Weyr at Southern, and after two Turns, Kyrath rose to fly a feral bronze. It was a good flight, and the clutch of twenty seven soon hatched, the dragonlings Impressing those youngsters brave and willing enough to Impress a dragon and help Raja and Kyrath in their mission to save Pern. Will you join them?

Come, join the legacy of Pern...
