The Kingdom of Exodus, center of religious study in the world, was under siege by the neighboring country of Meredith. The King's armies, unable to defend every region of land in their juristiction, left many cities unprotected and easy prey for invaders. Two such cities, Valiennes and Boradon, entered into discussion to find a means to protect one another through strength of combined arms. After many long months, the two Dukes came to agree that a marriage between their children would best solidify relations between themselves, and so it was done. Valiennes offered her daughter, Alena, and Boradon his son, Morgan. Although together and happy, a marriage doesn't guarantee lifelong joy for anyone. For Morgan, Alena can only offer friendship and comfort, not true love. For Alena, Morgan has only his gentleman's nature to present, unable to give his love to someone who won't return it. They cannot express their true feelings, cannot be separate, cannot let their marriage fall apart unless willing to risk the ire of both cities. Their false displays would have to last until the wars end, or until death. And with the warring armies of Meredith close to their borders, that act would be put to the greatest test... >Return< |
