Skins
Installation Guide
By Mr.Quick
Okay, so i keep getting T-mail from people asking how to install skins.
In the interest of having more time to make skins, and play the game of course.......
So, here is my skins installation guide.
There is a lot of stuff in here you may already know,
but since I don't know how much you know, I put it all in anyways.
First step, which you may have already done, is to turn Tribes 2 OFF. This may be difficult but it is necessary if you want to install custom skins.
Second, of course, is to download a nice custom skin, like one of mine ;-)
Skins come in two forms, loose .png files and .vl2 files. Mine all come in .vl2 format.
Incidentally, if you change the extension on a .vl2 ti .zip it becomes a standard .zip file and the .png files can be extracted.
If you are unfortunate to have a broken .vl2, a .zip, or a loose collection of .png files you should just put them in
-Dynamix\Tribes2\GameData\base\textures\Skins-
you may have to create this folder.
If, on the other hand, you have a .vl2 that has been properly made, you just drop it into
-Dynamix\Tribes2\GameData\base-
So now you hopefully have the skins properly installed and available for use in the game. This means you get to turn Tribes 2 back on.
Now you have to tell Tribes 2 that you want to use the skins you just installed.
Start by going to the settings and selecting the game tab. Make sure the "Show Personal Skins" option,
is turned ON.
Now back out of settings and go to "Warrior Setup" in the Game tab and choose "custom skins" from the dropdown menu labeled "show"
Next you choose the skin you want to use from the dropdown labeled "skin"
By the way, in case you were not aware, not all skin packs have all the categories of skins (male, female, bioderm), so if you are using a model not covered by that skinpack it will not show up in the "skin" dropdown
