~~still under construction~~

When you walk into the city the only thing your eyes can focus on, at first, is the rubble extending throughout the area. Broken stones and shattered wood cover the streets, it seems that nothing is alive here, not even trees. The skies are always clouded and dark on the land.

You walk up the streets, weaving your way through and around the rubble. As you near the center of the desolate city a single, massive mansion comes into view. It stands alone at the top of a small hill. Shadows stretch long into the streets around the mansion, giving a feeling of oppressive darkness, despite the early evening hours.

The windows are dimly lit, and despite appearing deserted, you can feel the weight of many ghostly eyes upon you. Black stone blocks, make up the exterior of the mansion. They seem to suck the light from the atmosphere. You come up to the mansion, the doors stand open. Each door is easily 15 feet tall and 6 inches thick, made of solid oak. You walk thru the doors and into a large entryway. A massive staircase leads up to the second floor landing. On your left is another open door, this one leading into the front room.

The room is lit by hundreds of solid black candles, scattered about on tabletops and some even resting on the glossy hardwood floor, thick pools of wax lying forgotten around each candle. The walls are black marble blocks, veined throughout with gray. Silver lines frame each of the blocks. The vaulted ceiling hides in flickering shadows. The room is scented with the cool fragrance of midnight air. The air is heavy with silence.

Along the wall to your left, a fireplace dominates the room, despite two large windows on either side. The windows are covered in heavy midnight black velvet curtains, the fabric pooled beneath the windows. Within the fireplace an eerie and silent fire burns, despite the lack of burning material. Above the fireplace a portrait rests within a heavy, polished Ebony frame, the figure pictured is lost within the darkness of the room.

Resting in front of the fireplace, is a large and beautiful, handmade sofa, an 18th century original. The ample cushions are covered in deep-crimson velvet, and the rest of it is made of solid silver, polished to a blinding sheen. Each article of furniture in this room is obviously custom made, most of it covered in the same deep-crimson velvet and made of polished silver. All of it appears to be of 18th century origins.

At the opposite end of the room from you, a huge chair sits. Its heavy, and solid base is made of the same polished silver as the rest of the furniture, however it is encrusted with jewels, most of which are Burmese Rubies and African diamonds. Deep crimson cushions also grace the seat and back of this chair, though on these cushions, silvery threads are woven throughout the fabric. The back of the chair stands 7 feet tall, with a short step leading to the seat, which is 4 feet from the ground. The arms are massive, easily 2 feet wide. The chair radiates with power.

You step further into the room, glancing to your left and right, searching for signs of habitation, besides the glowing candles and magical fire. You find none, and begin to search the room for clues as to the owner of this palatial estate. Finding no personal effects in the room, you are bewildered.

A soft sound echoes through the room, startling you. You turn towards the door, but finding the doorway empty, you exit back into the foyer. Trying to determine where it is coming from you head to. . .
