After his defeat in what would later be called the "Rebirth of Cybertron," Galvatron came to realize that the key to winning the losing war with the Autobots lay in the destructive power of Plasma Energy. The order came to develop an experimental prototype body with sufficent shielding to withstand the harmful effects of this type of power, and after many failed attempts, the Constructicons unveiled the final design, DNT-X0083, or Dante, for short.

Since Vector Sigma had already been corrupted by Alpha Trion, Cyclonus and Scourge took Dante to Unicron's head, where the Technobots were created. However, the final battle with the Autobots had already begun, and Dante was insufficently programmed to join the battle and potentially turn the tide in the Deceptions' favor, so he, along with the entirety of Unicron's head, was jetissoned through the Warp Gate with random settings, to prevent either from falling into Autobot hands...

His programming guided by the madness of Galvatron, Dante is a dichotomy of devious brilliance and stubborn loyalty. Instilled with the belief that Destron leaders are of royal mechfluid, he will often refer to his commander as "my Liege" or simply "The Royalty." However, this does not extend to seconds. In fact, he is highly suspicious of any "subcommander's" orders, owing to Galvatron's difficulties with his subordinates, and will even refuse to obey them, especially if he considers them weak or inferior in some way. Always willing to battle to prove his point, Dante never backs down from a confrontation. He despises anything non-Destron with an undying passion, but grudgingly respects organic creatures if only for their ability to withstand Plasma Energy.

In addition to his traditional alternate mode, that of a Cybertronian hovertank, Dante can also convert into multiple Targetmaster weapon configurations for Gestalt use, similar to Delta Magnus's Bluebolt weapon. In all modes, he possesses the lethal Plasma Energy Cannon, and a rotary Vulcan cannon which fires depleted Cybertonium rounds, in addition to the standard-issue optic lasers and sniper-grade laser rifle which he wields in robot mode. He can also detatch two of his hovertank mode's hoverpads and use them to create pockets of null gravity, rendering those trapped within helpless. However, he generally considers such tactics to be a waste of time and effort, preferring, as he puts it, "the righteous pounding of metal to metal."
