Roleplay Help

What is roleplaying?
Roleplaying is playing a role not your own, literally. Here in Mwitu Valley you take on the role of an animal and play it out by describing its actions, looks, thoughts, and feelings.

How do I roleplay?
As mentioned earlier, you describe your character's actions, looks, thoughts and feelings. All you have to do is to type them out.

The part of your post that is describing your animal character is called In Character, or IC. The world we live in is known as Out Of Character, or OOC. You may use OOC when speaking as yourself, and IC when switching back to your character. You need not use OOC in the OOC boards; likewise you also need not use IC in the IC boards.

Animals here do speak to one another, and such text may be bolded like this:
<b>"Hello?"</b>
if you are using EZcodes, use instead. Thoughts may be put in italics, by substituting the 'b' for an 'i'.

In character posts should be from the third person point of view, and in past tense.
eg. "The ivory coated she-wolf trotted down the river..."
not
"I trotted down the river..."
or
"The ivory coated she-wolf trots down the river..."

If you still aren't sure how to roleplay, you can check out other's posts, or ask your heart out in the OOC board.

What do certain terms used in roleplay mean?
If you come across <p> or <aw> in the subject line of a message, don't panic. <p> refers to Private, meaning that only those invited by the author of the post can join in. <aw> stands for All Welcome, and your character can join in.
OOC stands for Out Of Character, and IC In Character, which is explained above. An NPC is a non player character; these have no rankings or status whatsoever, like humans or birds. In Mwitu Valley, NPCs can be given a separate accout to clear things up. At other times, like in a hunt, you may roleplay a deer under your own account. In this case, the deer is also known as an NPC.

Powerplaying and Godmoding are forbidden in Mwitu Valey, as you should know. Powerplaying, or PP, is when you control the other person's character by describing them. This is especially unfair in a battle scene.
eg. "She lunges at her opponent, biting his leg and breaking it." This is powerplaying.
"She lunges at her opponent, attempting to injure his leg." This is known as non-autohit.

Godmoding is pretending to have powers that you don't. If your character is invincible, and is always dodging attacks, this is godmoding. You can dodge, unless in autohit, but not too much. Likewise in autohit, attacks sometimes fail.

A last point to remember: Your character only knows what he senses, and cannot read message titles or what the post contains. Your character mainly knows what he sees and hears, especially when spoken to.
