• Joined the party: initially joined after a series of strange dreams compelled him to fly to Spain. Met Esperanza and fell in love with her, then returned to Tennessee with her for his grandfather's funeral. They stayed there with occasional visits to Espy's family in Spain.
• Known background information: learned to fight from his grandfather, a very old and crotchety Samurai. Spent much of his youth traveling, including considerable time in Brazil.
