The 12 Uni are the guardians of the actual rulers of the 12 stars, also known as the Zodiac. They bare the same names as their Rulers, and even share certain qualities with them, but are defined by their Uni appearance. The Uni travel around with the bearer of their Master's stone, serving them loyaly as long as their Master said so, for the true rulers of the Stars came before the mere mortals of Earth to them.
All Uni are separated from the rest by their own unique qualities. Each of these qualities are indeed shared amongst at least three other Uni, but it's the joining of these qualities that finally separates them, giving them their own individual appearance that only another of their kin could copy. These qualites are split up of the elements (fire, earth, wind, and water) and what are actually called 'qualities' (cardinal, fixed, and mutable).
The Fire Uni are, obviously born of fire. They have long, flowing tails and manes of fire, and large flaming wings, which show the world their symbols, or heritage. Just as red is the color of power and strength, red is also the color of fire.
The Earth Uni consist mostly of dirt and rocks, which dangle from their bodies like actual hair, but also make the wings heavier. Due to the weight of all the rocks, they usually hold a firmer build, being slightly stronger looking, but it is actually their defense that is their greatest attribute. Another strange feature Earth Uni carry, are their eyes; an earth Uni's eyes are shaded, almost a solid color, but their pupils are evident. Their symbols are placed on the lower body, usually the chest or the legs.
Wind, or Air Uni, appear as normal horses with large feathery wings growing out of their backs, and normal, more natural mains and tails or actual hair. Similar to the Fire Uni, they, too, carry their signs on their wings; similar to the Earth Uni, they also have solid colored eyes, but their pupils do not show through. As you might have guessed, the Wind Uni's greatest attribute is speed.
And finally the Water Uni. Water Uni, as you might suspect, bodies of water for wings. How this is done, no one is quite sure, just like the Earth and Fire Uni, but the Water Uni seem to be slightly more mysterious in the subject. Like their wings, their mains and tails are tiny streams of water that work just like normal hair. The only sign that these watery attributes do not affect is Scorpio, for Scorpio is the one Uni of Ice, and so has ice crystals for wings, hair, and hooves, which will be explained in the Qualities section. The Water signs are placed on their backs according to the order of the Zodiac. The greatest skill of the Water Uni are their magics, being much stronger than another Uni's, even at the same level, though most of the spells the Water Uni learn are healing.
Now for the Qualities, as mentioned before, there are 3: Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable.
The Cardinal signs are the most outgoing and possibly the strongest over the other signs. The Cardinals are usually pretty tall, having very long, strong legs, which often make them appear more majestic. But the one thing that is the most obvious in telling them apart from others are the long horns growing out of the foreheads; Cardinal signs are Unisesses.
Fixed signs are very easy to tell apart from another, similar to the way a Cardinal has its horn. Remember Scorpio? With the icy wings, hair and hooves? That is exactly what the Fixed signs have: elemental hooves. For Uni such as Scorpio or Taurus, they have spikey hooves that match their elements, Leo has flaming hooves, and Aquarius has electric hooves that spark with every step; though all Wind Uni can use lightning, Aquarius rises above them in terms of strength.
And last, but not least, are the Mutable signs. Sorry to say that the Mutable signs got the down side of the deal; their special identification is that they don't have horns or elemental hooves. It's basically just like reading up on the elemental qualities and that's it. The only thing you could even consider is the fact that they almost always have longer manes and tails than any other sign.
Now we take a look at these fine specimens, who would ultimately be superior over us if not bound by their Master's and their rules- who are also superior to us in just about everyway, but they like us... for some strange reason...
