City Rules for Hammersgaard

"One who speaks of Home Stones should stand, for matters of honor are involved here."
Tarnsman of Gor, page 27

1. The High Jarl of the City's word is law. Any person/persons found to break the laws of the City, shall be punished accordingly, and swiftly.

2. Though the City's laws do not apply outside of the jurisdiction of the City, any who come within the City limits, will be responsible for adhering to them.

3. The city of Hammersgaard is under the sole control of the High Jarl.

4. Treason, or any act of treason against the City or it's Citizens, is punishable by banishment from the City, or impalement.

5. The City has no "free zones". Any chat room with the City name, or call letters representing the City, are under the City's jurisdiction. The City's laws are in full effect within the area in question.

6. The City of Hammersgaard has zero tolerance for exotic poison slaves, get a clue, they did not just wander Gor baring their fangs and hissing at the free. Exotic's found within the city will be dealt with swiftly.

7. All out of character context within the chat rooms, should be kept to bare minimum. If out of character is required, it should be done so in an orderly fashion, using whispers (instant messages) whenever possible.

8. A mundane person may, of course, role-play any type of character of their choosing. However, whichever character class you decide upon, should be portrayed accordingly. If you should choose to portray a free male, do so properly. Do not play a supposed Jarl, that is governed by his Bondsmaid. If you choose to role-play a free woman, play them accordingly, not as slave flesh in robes, nor using your freedom to spout off at the mouth toward a free male, and expect it not to have consequences. If you choose to portray a Bondsmaid, role-play your character accordingly. Do not whine out of character, because your Bondsmaid has not had the opportunity to warm furs on a day to day basis. Do not role-play a bratty submissive, that wishes to have rule upon things, and throws tantrums when they do not receive their own way, you will end up sleen bait.

9. The City of Hammersgaard will enforce the rights of "Reserved Status" granted a bondsmaid by her Jarl. A bondsmaid is property and will be veiwed as such. It is a Jarls right to set the limits of his bondsmaid.

10. Thoughts are used to state emotion and define the action and setting for role-play. They are not a childish chance to take cheap shots at others or to misbehave. Bondsmaids / Slaves are responsible for their thoughts, free persons can easily read a bondsmaid /slave. Their actions and even their eyes betray their every thought to the free. Therefore, rudeness, disrespectfulness, etc. As well as whining out of character, can be taken just like spoken words, and the slave will be punished.

11. Bondsmaids / Slaves are property, though they are considered among the most valued of property, they are property nonetheless. If a bondsmaid /slave leaves the City, to visit the Kajira universal chat rooms, or other public chat rooms, and their "Owner has given their consent", they are assuming responsibility for their owner's property. If the bondsmaid /slave in question misbehaves, and finds themselves stolen, injured, or otherwise harmed, they will be left to their own devices. Axes and other free persons of the City will not go running to the beck and call of a bondsmaid /slave who has gotten themselves into an undesirable predicament.

12. Pits / Male slaves. Pits were not found in Torvaldsland and male slaves were the lowest of the slaves in the north. Their tasks were regulated to the feilds and manual labor, and then chained up in the barns and stables at night. Arrogant, mouthy Pits / Male slaves will not be tolerated, period.

13. Bickering among bondsmaids /slaves is frowned upon. A free person will not intervene in a squabble between bondsmaids /slaves, as it is not worth their time to interfere in such. If a quarrel arises between slaves, they are expected to work out the matter among themselves.

14. Any runaway bondsmaids /slaves, if they should happen to be caught, will recieve 30 lashs, without being given the liberty to explain themselves. If a second offense occurs, the bondsmaid /slave in question will simply be put to death, and their owner given the proper fee to compensate to loss of the property. If a bondsmaid /slave is stolen, while outside the City walls, the bondsmaid /slave in question will be left to deal with their new owner. If a bondsmaid /slave has been stolen from within the City's jurisdiction, the High Jarl will decide if it was a random act of thievery, or an act of war. The next step to the process will either be to let the matter rest, or retaliate against the abductor accordingly.

15. Wandering slaves that enter the city will be taken in chains to the holding pens until their owners come for them, if no owners come for them within one hand or they are unowned, they will be sold. This is to cut down on the wandering slaves that run around half naked and hide in snow drifts and then peek in the Hall windows looking to steal a scrap of food.

16. During times of battle, regardless of the Caste system, all men within the City have higher rank than any women within the City, including the Jarless. The Jarless's duties, in a time of strife, is to see that all other women, children, and bondsmaids /slaves within the City are seen to safety, and shelter. During the mentioned time, it is the duty of all men within the City, regardless of their Caste to defend the City, homestone, and Citizens when it is expected of them or necessary. If women, children, or slaves should be present during a time of battle, and they wish to help, they should perform the following, and promptly:

First, they should see their character out of harm's way in a discreet, yet swift fashion.

Second, they may begin to portray the City guards, in the from of a non-player character, to aid in the defense of the City.

17. The City of Hammersgaard is a well guarded City. The City guards patrol all areas of the City, to maintain the peace, and justice, and to keep it in safety. Although your character may technically appear alone within the chat room, you are not. If a person should come along with ill intent, and seek to do bodily harm to your character, the City guardsmen may be controlled by any member of the City to their advantage. For example, a Bondsmaid could be alone within the City / Hall gardens, and be attending to some horticulture. A vagabond of some sort may slip within the gardens, and have all intentions of stealing the bondsmaid in question. Because of the garden walls, and gates are patrolled, and protected by the City guard, you may control them to your advantage, and prevent such a happening.

18. Any SLs that may affect the city or its personal, should be ok'd through the High Jarl. This is not meant to limit you in your RP, it is meant to keep Hammersgaard and its people free of crossing and the BS that seems to run rampant around Gor lately.
