Cities & Villages
Burg
Burg is a small town
which resides next to a giant lake which also serves as a semi-major trading
port. The lake links to two rivers that eventually flow out into the sea, thus
giving Burg access to the entire world, despite it's small size. It's level of
technology is somewhat low but it's by choice, as they believe in using the
traditional methods to do business and celebrate life. The people of Burg are
very friendly and warm-heartedly welcome any strangers with good intentions.
Empire
The metropolis known
only as Empire is the single largest city in the world. Empire resides on a
large island in the middle of the world map and houses several ports (and even a
few airship ports). Several million (some say tens of millions) of people reside
in Empire. Empire houses not only the greatest military in the world but the
greatest technology as well. The stock in their stores are plentiful and are
always of the highest quality. Empire is the leader in world politics, but
lately, they have embarked on several questionable endeavors, such as increasing
the size of their military. Rumor has it that they are also creating a flying
fortress, a super airship, and that they are also investing into a space program
to explore the two moons that circle Terra (the FFGT world), Luna and Celest.
Vane
Vane is epicenter of all
the magic in the world. This city, which floats high in the sky, circles Terra
in a constant pattern. Every citizen of Vane is able to use Magic of one form or
another, thus only Red, Black, and White Mages may start here. Every shop sells
magical items but most are relatively expensive. Vane is also home to 75% of the
world's arcane academies, universities, and institutions, making it the prime
spot to further increase one's magical prowess. Access into Vane is restricted
and may only be entered by those with a special identification. To reach Vane,
one must find the teleportal on the ground. Once found, the guards surrounding
it will check identification and will grant access to said teleportal.
Mansfield
Mansfield is a hotbed of
both honest and shady businesses. This largely corporate city is very wealthy
but has more than it's fair share of corporate scandal and other such crimes.
Mansfield has nearly as many shops as Empire but the pries are a bit more
reasonable. Mansfield is also the easiest city in the world in which to set up a
business. Mansfield also has it's own small army which it uses to protect
caravans and to attack local settlements of bandits and other such criminals.
Meribia
This booming port-town
houses quite possibly the largest single port in the world and in-turn houses a
moderate number of well maintained shops, taverns, and inns. It's people are
similar to those of Burg's: peaceful and hard-working. Meribia is a beautiful
city with strong political leadership as well as a small militia force. Meribia
is proud to sport one of the smallest crime rates in the world.
Lumina
Lumina is a town
shrouded in eternal night (20 mile radius around the town). While this may seem
like a bad thing and may make this look like a bad city, the truth tells
otherwise. This festive city is lit well by magical street-lights that line
every road and alley and is home to some of the finest festivals and art in the
world. To relate Lumina to Earth, Lumina (after work hours) appears to be like
one massive Mardi Gras. Businesses have a tendency to thrive well here, but
shops that cater to adventuring needs are often in short supply, due to the
festive nature of the city as a whole. Crime is not tolerated here, as it
disrupts the good-natured fun of Lumina's own special culture. Lumina has no
official militia but often have little need for one anyway.
Elfheim
Elfheim is a city in the
trees that is home to arguably the most ancient race on the planet, the Elves.
Elfheim, despite it's ancient looking and primitive architectural work, is a
beautiful city which thrives in perfect harmony with the flora and fauna that
surround it. Because of their ancient culture and tradition, the elves are wary
of any non-elven strangers (including many half-elves) and will often treat
visitors rather coldly. Some are even "escorted" out of the forest in which the
city dwells by the Grand Elven Army. Though not quite on the same level as Vane,
Elfheim is home to many ancient forms of magic and also holds several magical
items. Only elves or half-elves may begin in Elfheim.
Dwarfengrad
Dwarfengrad is an
ancient city built not only onto the sides of a mountain... it's also built into
the mountain, leaving part of the city above ground and the other part above
ground. Dwarfengrad arguably has the best defenses in the entire world, both
natural and artificial. They possess a very high level of technology that is
only notches below the metropolis of Empire. The architecture of the city may
not be very pretty but is very sturdy and has withstood the test of time.
Businesses are difficult to set up but the shops offer many Dwarven Engineer
created weapons and machines. The Dwarves strike many as a very grumpy race of
people. However, they are generally good-hearted and are very honorable. They
are nowhere near as rascist as the elves and some dwarves even have adopted
human children who have lost their parents, hoping to make the humans a
productive member of society. They often war with the Elves, pitting technology
against magic. So far, no breakthroughs have been made...
St. Heim
St. Heim is a holy city and can be considered of the Earth's Vatican City. Crime
is absolutely unheard of here, as justice is served on the spot, thus striking
fear into any would-be criminals. The city streets are often fairly quiet aside
from the quiet prayers that can be heard through the many churches and
monasteries scattered throughout the city. St. Heim fields a small army.
However, since it is blessed by the powers of light, it is in reality a VERY
powerful army, with White Mages, Paladins, and Monks making up the bulk of the
forces. Despite being the most peaceful city on the planet, St. Heim is not a
hotbed of economic activity, making both shopping and setting up a business very
difficult. Although they welcome everyone with open arms, many of the residents
of St. Heim will pester those whose Innate Element is Darkness, often trying
their best to convert them to the light. Because of this, many of them fail to
understand that Darkness does not necessarily mean evil and may sometimes treat
Darkness-aligned heroes the same as bandits.
