if you claim a territory, you have to make your own board. if you need help, ask on the ooc board.
you can claim mares that are not in their own territory (they must come) and force them to breed
all mares are generally your 'favorite' but special affection can be shown to some
if a mare comes into your territory pregnant with a foal that is not yours, you can kill the foal when it is born

× mares

you can be forced to breed, become part of a herd, etc
it isn't very realistic to 'hate' your stallion, unless for instance he has killed your foal or another loved one, but even those are short-lived

× breeding and foaling

breeding is done within territories.
any mare that is found outside of her terra {not including those unclaimed} can be forcebred.
long breeding is allowed, but keep it inside your posts and don't get carried away. realisticness is the key!
foaling is done within the territories.
the dam makes up the stats- be reasonable- two bays don't produce a grey
pregnancy can last about 4-7 days

do not join as orphaned foals. end of story.

from now on example posts will be required when you join. if you have already had one character accepted, then an example post is not necessary. if you are not accepted, don't take it personally. this is an intermediate/advanced rpg. there are many people willing to help you with your roleplaying skills.
