Final Fantasy Tactics Review
Final Fantasy Tactics (bold this)
Content: 9.4/10
Final Fantasy Tactics was so well written. Beautiful.
Pain, betrayal, tragedy--all that makes a game a classic is in this wonderful game.
But the game excelled only through battles, it seemed. The scenes were fantastic; I just wish that there were more of them.
Since I haven’t actually finished the game, though, I can’t say that I’m totally finished with this specific rating, though the other categories are.
Sound: 8.5/10
Zodiac Wings. Wow. That was a great song. The Prelude was also really cool. However…
None of the other songs are all that memorable. I’ll find them on a random site, probably RPGamer or Final Fantasy Shrine and my reaction will be something like "…. ….Huh? Oh! Oh, now I remember." I don’t recall ever being displeased with the music, but then again I don’t remember too much about its music at all.
As for battle sounds…they were great! People screamed when they died. Now that was cool.
Graphics: 9.3/10
The graphics, despite the fact that the characters are somewhat SD (Super Deformed), are incredibly detailed. The specific armor and even the facial expressions can be seen. Cool.
For coming out so close to when Final Fantasy VII came out, I was surprised to see Final Fantasy Tactic’s graphics. Normal graphics-wise…Tactics won by a long shot. FMV-wise, though, Tactics didn’t really have any (except for at the very, very beginning). Too bad.
Battle: 9.5/10
The battle system in this game was SO cool and unique. I came very close to giving it a perfect 10, but if I’m going to give Final Fantasy VIII an imperfect score then it would be pretty unfair to give Tactics a perfect one. Just as Final Fantasy VIII was, the battles could be incredibly tedious. But I must give Tactics a better Battle score because the Battle system was a little less tedious. It wasn’t by much, though.
Skill Factor: 9.8/10
Battles were supremely difficult, and I sometimes had to restart after making a fatal mistake and re-see all of the neat scenes and re-do most of the battle. I was so frustrated then. Looking back on it, though, it was so much fun.
Everything and anything outside of the battles, though, were massively easy. I can’t complain much, though. I wouldn’t want to play a game in which EVERYTHING is so terribly hard.
Great balance.
Overall: 9.4/10 (not an average of the previous scores--obviously)
Final Fantasy Tactics was an absolutely incredible game. I’m so blown away. Wow.
Playing Final Fantasy Tactics for 60 hours wasn’t a waste of time. It was entirely worth it.
I may add more later.
