There are many magazines around the world that you can collect which will help you in your adventure and allow you to get certain items.
Weapons monthly has new upgrades for your weapons. So when you read the magazines, the weapons in them you will be able to acquire. But to acquire the weapon you need to find items to make them(if you want to find out where the items are look at weapons)

Pet pals are magazines for Angelo(Rinoa's dog) when you read these you can go to Rinoas fourth status screen and learn limit breaks for angelo and Rinoa.

Balamb town in the hotel. Talk to the pony-tailed girl at the library desk with zell in your group. Visit the library repeatedly and talk to the people there. When you visit balamb town next, go to Zell's house. She will tell Zell that he has a visitor. Then, rest at the hotel. When you get up, go out of the room and Zell is talking with the girl from the library and she will hand him the magazine.(Disc 1)

Esthar city, the walkway above the yellow lifter tube(the scene before the first contact point). talk to the soldier there(before the lunatice pandora has reached contact point 1) he will drop the magazine and run off.(Disc 3)

In the lunatic Pandora. After going through the first contact point go down the rightmost lift. In the next screen run the front of the screen, then go down the ladder and to the left. Run from the right to the left for 2 screens and its on the floor at the dead end.(Disc 3)

Occult fans are magazines that when read find clues on how to summon the mysterious GF Doomtrain.(If you would like to know how to summon it look for more details in the GF's section)

Fishermans Horizon. At you first arrival before the lift that takes you into Fishermans horizon. There is a small ladder below the big cyclinder pipe you walk across. It is hard to see but it is there. Then make your way down to the old man whom the garden nearly crashed into. He will give you it.(Disc 2)

Esthar city, in the hallway of the presidential Palace. Talk to the guard to the left of the big door. He will drop it after leaving.(Disc 3)
If you dont find Occult fan magazines they are all available in the book shop in Esthar city. 1 and 2 will only be on sale if you have the ability "Familiar".
Timber Maniacs are not as important as the other magazines. When you collect them Squall will read them without looking at the contents. Once read Selphie will add pages to the Balamb Garden Network. You can look at them by going to Squall's study panel on the 2F. Timber maniacs do not show up in your inventory.
