He constantly cheers on his teammates and does his best to keep everyone happy and their morale high.

Zidane constantly evolves as a character and matures throughout the game, eventually making his quest to find the mystery of his birth and origins.

With the biggest role after Zidane, Vivi is a 9-year-old Black mage who has forgotten his past. Although he is extremely clumsy, Vivi is also an extremely powerful wizard, and like all wizards is feared and respected in Gaia.

Unfortunately, little Vivi knows nothing about himself besides he is the only Black Mage not under the control of evil Brahne, Queen of Alexandria.

If Vivi and Steiner are in the party at the same time, Vivi can cast elemental magic on Steiner's sword.

Captain of the Knights of Pluto, the only male regiment of soldiers in Alexandria, Steiner's duty is to protect Princess Garnet with his life.

Tension quickly grows between Steiner and Zidane, Steiner suspecting Zidane as a threat to Princess Garnet.

Steiner isn't the quickest wit in the game, and has trouble comprehending Queen Brahne's new behaviour. Even after capture, he remains convinced it is a breakdown in communications, rather than a betrayal.

Steiner can equip heavy weapons and armour, and matures into by far the strongest character by the end of the game.

Character Class : Summoner / White Mage

Daughter of Queen Brahne, Garnet has difficulty communicating with the general population after her voluntary kidnapping.

After receiving a new alias, Garnet is carefully instructed by Zidane on how to communicate with common folk.

While she lacks in physical strength, she can dish out major damage towards the end of the game by summoning monsters.

A giant known as 'The Flaming Amarant', Amarant relies on and believes in brute force, not other people.

He reluctantly fights alongside the party, as Zidane pulled a trick on him years ago, and Amarant still holds a grudge.

Freya is one of the last surviving Dragoon Knights, and a long-time friend of Zidane. Freya meets up with the other heroes while searching for her lost love, Sir Fratley.

Her battling abilities are typical of the traditional Final Fantasy Dragoon - the 'Jump' command takes her off the screen where she waits for almost a whole turn before spearing the enemy for large damage.

Quina is a gourmande, fighting with the group on a quest to become a Master Chef.

Quina fights using a huge fork, and can eat enemies in order to learn their abilities.

Quina is particularly fond of frogs.

Eiko is the last survivor of an ancient tribe of summoners, and is desperately afraid of being alone.

She lives as the only human in a village of cute little moogles.

She can summon powerful beasts in battle, and also use White Magic.
